I cannot find enough good words to say about the Somerset Assisted Living Facility. It was a hard decision to place a family member there one year ago and they made the transition so comfortable and welcoming that we were completely at ease doing it. The whole staff there is awesome and the facility itself is very clean and well kept including the outside grounds that are beautiful. The owners and the administrator Kaylin have been exceptional to work with and the constant communication about our family member put our minds at ease that she was being treated extremely well. The Nurse Cindy is very pleasant and goes above and beyond to make sure that the residents stay healthy and get their needs taken care of. The resident assistants Carmen and Michele treat the residents like family and are phenomenal at their job. The activity crew ,William and Nicole, keep the place lively and make sure the residents stay busy and have fun- my family member loved them. The food that Ms. Shirley and the crew serves out every day is amazing and the residents love it…as do the family members that visit to eat there. We highly recommend this place and the best compliment I can give Kaylin and her staff is to say that if there is ever a time that I need to be moved into an assisted living facility, this will be the place I go to. Thanks for taking such wonderful care of our family member and we appreciate all the extra effort the staff put forth.

The staff at Somerset is wonderful to my Mother and all of the residents. They have a variety of stimulating, creative and engaging activities daily. They take the residents shopping and out to lunch regularly. This Assisted Living is locally owned and visited regularly by the owners, who know the residents by name. We feel very fortunate that our Mother gets to spend her senior years here.

If y’all are looking for an amazing place for your loved one…this is the place! It is just like living in an apartment with tons of amenities. (Laundry, cleaning, clean sheets, 3 great meals and snacks, picture perfect lawns). They offer daily activities (bowling, horse racing, bingo, exercise, music, bible study, all kinds of decorating/seasonal activities). They also offer weekly hair appointments, manicures, trips in the van with paid for lunch, trips to Dollar General, etc. Most importantly, 24 hr staff on duty to help them as needed. They are a loving bunch of folks that are there to care for your loved one for as much or as little as they need. If you are looking for a clean, healthy place for your loved one, you must check out Somerset!

Somerset Assisted Living is a great place for my father. He is the only African American resident. The directors, past and present, have been very friendly, informative and cooperative. My father has adjusted and likes Somerset. The residents all seem to like each other and look out for each other; in other words, they are a community. I am sending a special shout out to Mrs Kimberly Faulkner (past director), Mrs Kaylin Gurganus (present director), Nurse Cindy (who is the most caring nurse ever), Mrs Shirley, Mrs, Pat , Mrs Carmen, Mrs Alexis, Mrs Jodie and Mr William Blount Thank you for your great care
of Dad and for being friendly whenever I see you It is very important and appreciated .

When I first entered the front door of Somerset Assisted Living, I was taken aback!
First impressions say a lot.
The facility was decorated for Easter.
A young aide was sharing a Bible study, with the participants eagerly engaging in answering questions and genuinely enjoying themselves.
The cook was preparing the evening meal and the heavenly smells just wafted through each room.
The cleanliness of the whole facility was noticeable on first glance.
But you know what really stuck out?
How happy the residents were!
They were laughing and talking.
It was a jolly atmosphere for sure.
There was nice walking path for residents to use, as well as an outside patio for their use.
Front porch sittin' is a must in the South!
Yes...they have that covered, as well.

My husband, Dennis and I have been playing music and singing at Somerset for several years now. We are in and out frequently and we love being there ! It’s a welcoming home ! I have a friend from 50 + years ago who is a resident and she loves it there. The residents are a family and really care a lot about each other.

The stellar staff at Somerset Assisted Living went above and beyond to accommodate my grandmother and me during her transition moving in. The maintenance team, kitchen staff, nurses assistants, and all other encounters have been such a pleasure in interactions.
Also very noteworthy: the Facility Administrator, Kimberly Falkner, worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition from the initial phone call even to if something were to happen in real-time. She is a true Angel on Earth to do the work that she does.
My family and I could not be more thankful for the treatment that my grandmother is receiving at Somerset Assisted Living in Dothan.
