If you have a loved one who needs memory care please, please, please check out this facility!! My mom was there for a little bit and they from top to bottom were awesome! One of the staff’s 5 year old grandson would stop in and he always gave my mom a hug. All the staff would say hello every time I would visit. Everyone was so helpful and compassionate when our mom passed too. The facility always was bright, cheery, clean and welcoming. Please at least give them a visit if you need care for someone you love, they would be loved like family at North Woods Village!!

My sister lived here. It was the very best choice for us. Every single department contributed to her excellent care and services. The kindness of the staff was immeasurable. The quick move in process was handled exceptionally well by the Executive Director who coordinated everything with us and the hospital. When we arrived, everything was waiting for us and just perfect for my sister.

The attention she got, the warmth and caring shown to her and our family will never be forgotten.

North Woods Village is an incredible place. The amount of love and care they constantly demonstrate for their residents is overwhelming. I am constantly amazed by their dedication and love for all of their residents, especially my mother. Thank you!

Appearances can be deceiving. When I looked at North Woods Village for my husband, who has a traumatic brain injury which caused his dementia, I was impressed. It was clean, nicely furnished, no smells, & the staff appeared friendly. I’d like to say it worked out, but it didn’t; my husband was there for 6 months, before I pulled him out of there. His TBI occurred 13 years ago, & his care (or lack thereof) at North Woods Village was the worst he’s received in that time. They have “Customized Care Levels”, which mean you’ll pay extra for any additional care needed. My husband needs help with toileting & Activities of Daily Living. He didn’t get much of that. He sat in his own waste. His soiled clothing was put in a laundry basket without being bagged up, which made his clothing & his room reek. (I provided plastic bags for that purpose.). Management/corporate doesn’t seem to support their staff. In the past 6 months, the Director of Nursing quit, her replacement has given notice, & the Business Manager walked off the job. The turnover rate is high; I never knew who was working my husband’s “neighborhood” when I needed assistance. One nurse told me that she couldn’t help me; she wasn’t working in that area. I had multiple meetings with the Executive Director & Directors of Nursing when there were issues. Corrections/improvements were promised, but rarely materialized. In short - it was altogether an extremely frustrating experience. I’m being generous giving North Woods 1 star. That’s only because of the great staff in other areas - reception, community outreach, etc. My next project? Sending a lengthy missive to corporate, detailing all that happened (or didn’t) while my husband lived there. I do not recommend!!

My mother has fallen several times in this facility and has had multiple contusions including one on her head along with a dislocated arm.
X-rays were never done. Shame on the management and staff.

The fact that it took North Woods Village over 10 months to reply to my review speaks volumes. I suggest you get all your facts straight before you comment. I, on the other hand, have documentation. There is no "court order" stating I am not allowed to visit my loved one. It is your facility that has blocked myself and placed my 2 sisters on supervised visits. It was YOUR directors that stated, "we have decided to block the 3 sisters on all information regarding your mother." That is documented AND recorded. Your facility is merely upset that we contacted APS, the State Ombudsman, and the Attorney General on your practices. No one is safe in your facility....including my loved one. My fear is that she will suffer yet another dislocated shoulder at the hands of your incompetent staff. The fact that my loved one pays your facility over 10k a month to live there is sickening. She's covered in bruises, her 2nd pair of glasses have disappeared yet AGAIN, almost all her original clothes are gone or covered with bleach marks, and residents are allowed to walk freely in and out of her room, not to mention the numerous UTI's she's had since she entered back in January 2023. Your company is in the business to MAKE money, not care for our loved ones. I have never seen a more unprofessional company in all my life. When a family member questions the care of their loved one, they are either BLOCKED or placed on supervised visits. SHAME on you North Woods Village for your total and complete lack of care. Shame Shame Shame!

What a great place for our mom! One of the reasons I chose this facility was it has a little chapel which they hold services of all religious denominations. After being there a few weeks, our whole family made comments on how happy she is there. If your looking for a facility please put North Woods Village on your list! Its worth the time!

I completely understand and expected your response. However, we were very much under the impression, as was Crown Point, that your facility had "dumped" my father at their facility. There were 2 conference calls with Crown Point, the second one we had to get Tracey to participate as the facility that we "thought" we were going to bring my father back to. Although, the written discharge from your facility was not given, it was verbally expressed to my family and Kailee, Social Worker from Crown Point, that North Woods had no intention of accepting my father back to the facility at that time or until his behavioral status was changed. We should had been formally advised to come and retrieve his belongings, as a distressed family, following your professional lead. We were wooed to your facility, under the impression that you were a memory care facility. Scott drove to our home in Paw Paw to bring your care package, which we thought was very attractive for the best care for our father; as a result, he was there maybe 10 days, you received $7620, and he was sent "for ?" to a facility in Indiana. If this is the process of your operation, to accept checks, of twice the amount as the rest of the memory care facilities in the community, you may want to revisit your mode of operation; you certainly will not get a positive reception in Kalamazoo by practicing the embezzlement of funds from families that are searching for the best care for their loved ones.
