Friendship Village Kalamazoo provided a wonderful experience for my family member and our family. Twelve and one half years ago, our journey began in the Health Center, a move to Assisted Living , finishing in Independent Living for over seven years.
When the time came, the moves were made in a more traditional path. At each step, we were so thankful to all of the employees of FVK for their guidance, support and care.
At the end of life stage, the care and thoughtfulness continued for my family member and my family. The support came from every aspect of the FVK community.
Many months have passed, I still recall employees from housekeepers, dining room staff, maintenance staff, caregivers, nurses on every shift and administrators who showed compassion to my family member and guidance to me.

I have two parents who in the last five years of their lives spent time in a total of six facilities such as FV both in FL and MI. This was by far the best place. The help and staff was the biggest reason. They love their guests and out of their way to keep us informed and to offer thoughtful choices on issues we were unfamiliar with. There is also plenty to do with a host of activities and outside talent. The walking paths are stunning and were our favorite activities with Dad.
Sadly the opposite was very apparent at a few of the other facilities. Very poorly run with only profit in mind and staff that had little knowledge of working with older and physically challenged guests. Without a doubt both parents would have lived longer if it wasn’t for FALLS! But at FV it was as good of a trade off as possible. At others STAFF was completely negligent.

Friendship Village is a wonderful community with caring and knowledgeable staff. The staff treat the residents like family and are warm and welcoming. They also have a great therapy team helping residents rehab to home. The care is 5 stars all around!

When we visited, we had to call ahead to “book a spot” ras they were so busy with all their activities!!! Mom passed in 2016 and Dad just past last summer in July. Very clean, good food, pleasant staff but above all the health care providers were knowledgeable, caring and dedicated.
The staff went above and beyond to take care of my mother. Mom was in 2 different care levels, at Woodside, a section of Friendship Village. It was competitively priced with other facility's in Kalamazoo. Both areas were staffed by caring and loving employees. I have no hesitation in recommending this facility with their high quality of care. The apartments were very nice with excellent care given to all residents. Group activities were very well done.

Friendship Village became home for my mom in July of 2019. In our search for a good place for her to live, we were repeatedly told by others about the compassionate staff at Friendship Village, the residents who genuinely care for each other and treat each other like family, and the beautiful surroundings, gardens and facilities at Friendship Village. I personally talked to several people who worked there, and others who live there or who have family members living there. No one I talked to had a bad word to say about Friendship Village, and this is what we have found to be true over the past year and a half. When the staff is friendly and happy about their jobs, you know it is a good place to be. We could not be happier about the decision to make this my mom’s new home, and appreciate all the personal touches the staff and administration puts forth to make it such a special place to live and to visit!

I started my journey with Friendship Village of Kalamazoo in February of 2018. Since then my mother has been in the Rehabilitation Center, Independent Living and Assisted Living. During this time the administration and support staff have listened to our needs, accommodated our individual differences, shared their professional opinion and supported our decisions. Because of this I highly recommend Friendship Village to anyone who is looking for a caring, positive and kind atmosphere for their loved one.

The Friendship Village Rehab experience executed by every member of their fabulous team could not have been better! My nearly 88-year old mom chose to eat every meal in their lovely natural light lit dining area, and work on puzzles in their open family room area to satisfy her need to be social & forge new relationships. Their physical therapy & occupational professionals blended a first-class goal-oriented program with results. Not a single day went by without their caring & encouraging involvement which propelled mom every step of the way. My mom went from moving only in a wheelchair when she arrived, to walking out using only her walker! Heads up to the nursing, administration & food service team. This Rehab center is a jewel, and we can't thank the entire team enough!
