I have only been here once, I heard about it & wanted to see what they offer for assistance to people.

You have sign in & there is a place that you write, what you are there for.
Let's say, a hot meal & clothes....

They have a flyer that states the name of the resource center " The Freedom Center".
It goes on to say " A safe place where people can bathe (they mean shower), wash clothes,
receive food or clothing assistance ( you give them the sizes of the clothes you need, you don't get to pick out the clothes yourself....)
(I put down shoes,socks, shirt & shorts, when I got the bag,it had men's clothing in it, I'm a female......No shorts, I asked about them.
I was told " we don't have any shorts".
Then I asked" What about a pair of jeans then?"
I was told" that's not what you wrote down & asked for".
I said " well you don't have shorts, may I have pants".
I was told " No".......
Also that" I would have to go through the process all over again, then wait til it was my turn, because there were people before me waiting ".
I said" It's my turn now..."
Then she said" that's not what you wrote down."
I said" ok, now I will know for next time".
I took the bag and left.....No Shoes by the way, maybe it's a good thing , with my luck,
I would have wound up with " Men's Dress Shoes!". 😂

You can get a hot meal,the flyer continues,
come in out of the cold, heat, or rain, and so much more!

(I took a photo of the ping pong table they have, I didn't ask if they had paddles though).

They also have lockers, not sure if they supply the locks or if each person brings their own.

They also have a TV & DVD player, a different women put a movie on, for people to watch.

The coffee was good, they had cereal and fruit, not sure what else.....I didn't ask the times they serve hot meals, I am guessing lunches.

The place is new ( I believe the woman said it had been open a year) didn't get to look at the showers, bathroom or laundry room....

Monday, Wednesday and Friday
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

So! Word to the wise!
If and when you go here, make sure to write everything down, exactly how you want it, well I should say, the exact type of assistance you are looking for.

I apologize for not checking out the things I mentioned, that I didn't know......
I'm usually very thorough.....
A lot was going on today & I had an appointment...

The freedom center and freedom Church is filled with a lot of Good Hope and blessings and amazing people their motto is they are a perfect Church full of imperfect people so if you think you're perfect please don't come back and I love that about them they do not judge you like most churches do and say they don't these people really do not judge you they truly do want to help the people that need help Bruce word is an amazing pastor and he has an amazing family Kathy and Gary slayton I know personally are amazing I love them more than they could ever know that goes for the church as well and Miss Trina over there boy she's somebody to know she's amazing man she truly does God's work

Freedom Center was very kind and courteous. They give food, clothes, showers, etc.. They also have Sunday church services.

Great place to go the staff ppl are friendly they help you with a lot if u don’t have a place to be in the cold doors are open where u be out from the cold have a place to lay ur head comfortably..wash clothes take shower feed ya. Great place

These people are motivated by the holy spirit and when you walk in the building one can sence it too I ran a little short on payday and came here where they will do your laundry free that is a blessing when people like myself work and need to keep a clean uniform thank all of you for all yall do god bless amen.

This has to be the greatest gift to the City of Gadsden... They were more than willing to help those who showed despite the rain today... God bless everyone working there...
