I worked with Mikayla for about 6 months and I couldn’t have asked for a better attorney. I highly recommend working with her! She is such a wonderful person and will do everything in her power to help you.

Warning to all vendors providing services to this org: make sure you have an ironclad contract in place. They refused to honor a verbal agreement even when backed up with 9 months of evidence. Although they used the work I'd completed, they never paid or offered any form of compensation nor apology.

I am grateful for the help I got from the Y. My only issue was they could hire better staff. Most of the shelter staff are unprofessional and have attitude problem and at times even keep the office door close for no reason other than to gossip and they don't like working just want the pay check. The staff play favoritism and if they can tell you're a nice person who genuinely have a kind heart they mock that and their favorites are the trouble makers. The other staff seem to be nice but they didn't work in the front instead they hire the less professionals to me the main ones you interact with. They let other women be disrespectful if you try to bring it to the staffs attention you were pretty much given a blank stare like you're the problem. Seems like the staff know they can do whatever and get away with it. There were a lot of time I wanted to go off on staff but kept my composure. They do have resources you also have to out in the work

The ywca helped me an my daughter feel safe. And helped us find housing. Had to put work in to but they helped too.They're helpful an do the best they can. I appreciate the ywca for everything they have done.
My therapist thru them also helped comfort an be of advice an such. I have nothing bad to say never will.

Tried to seek help for my children and I because I don’t feel safe at home because my boyfriend threatened to kill me and put me in a bag. YWCA told “ they’re full and there’s nothing they can do to help.”

Was told after staying here by Mary Segerdahl that they would assist me after I left but she never calls me back or answers my calls. Point blank I feel like suing them for false information. Literally they don’t even care if you become homeless with your kids and don’t do anything to help you when you leave.

I had to stay there myself when I was younger with my daughter and the conditions were horrible 9 out of the 10 people who were staying there had bed bugs. The staff pick and choose their favorites for instance giving me a whole package of diapers for just my one child while I watched a struggling mother with 3 children and diapers have to knock on the door for almost an hour to get three individual diapers for just that moment. I had two different women try to assault me when I brought it to the attention of the staff I was told I needed to speak to the director who insinuated that I was a racist. The so-called counseling is a joke. In the staff that run the women's shelter are cruel and mean and would often times see them laughing and mocking the people who stay there. They did help me get on my feet because I put the work in to get out. But the staff could go a long way to treat women who are already in a difficult situation a lot better than they did.

Went here for help after reaching out to a advocate and was directed to go here. I spoke with Sherry Brockway who is director of emergency services. I was then met by Victoria who was African. They called me to come back to the shelter within 5 minutes telling me they can help. After a week went past assigned me to a new advocate who didn't know anything about trafficking Mary Segredahl. I was forced to call CPS and KDPS who in turn attempted to take my child instead of provide us with protection and safety as our situation warranted. We were denied resources. I sought out counseling on my own and legal help who I was later denied and sent to a legal manager Christine Hayes who eventually stopped returning my calls and emails. I later reached out to Rachel an advocate who I originally was supposed to receive counsel from which in the blink of a eye that was changed as well. Rachel couldn't offer any services as well. Well she could but there is no help available due to these people covering up and pretending to help victims and still collecting grants on their behalf and illegal trafficking money. Also, after told by HT agent Fannie Fernandez my situation was not trafficking and they have a certain criteria which I would like to know what criteria they are following. They should be following criteria based on the definition and victims stories. If a victim does not feel safe it is not up to anyone to decide they need shelter. Rachel kept acting like she isn't affiliated with the safe house they have she only knows of the main shelter. Which is denying a victims rights and resources as it relates to trafficking. This is why Kalamazoo is the #1 city for trafficking!
