Good warm homemade meal served for lunch to homeless and down and out people. Also a clothing shop with nice gently used or new clothing of all sizes for adult women and children too. Kind helpful people there to prepare and serve the meals and help with clothing selection and counseling too. Very well run and a warm safe atmosphere of helpfulness.

I love the ladies. Everyone is so sweet so kind it's nice to be able to talk with other women that have gone through similar situations.

They have a lot of resources to help women single or with children. I love the once a month clothes closet!!! Where to get to pick 20 items and they're very nice clothes and other items that you might need like towels blankets socks bras handbags like five extra items get to be picked for free out of the towels blankets handbag area.
The hot lunches are so good!!!

They have often like some kind of special event once a month or once a week that pertain to women.
They help you get back into your creative juices. Especially if you've been tapped energy-wise.

Normal operational hours are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. they have continental breakfast with coffee 10:00 until 11:30 ish and then their hot lunch at 12:00 noon until about 1:00 Day services close by 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Some services are baths & showers available 10 a.m. til 1 p.m.

Computers, printers and phone availability plus you can safely use their mailing address as your own to get mail safely delivered to you.

Counseling availability and it's a safe haven for sheltered or abused woman.

I was looking for a place to donate coats and clothes (very nice items) for women so I recommended this place for my mom to donate. Upon her arrival she was stopped by an older woman. This lady (I do not have a name) informed her she could not accept the donation because they were short staffed (What!?) My mother empathize that she could put them in a designated area for when staff do come on Thursday (like the woman say), someone will be able to sort the items. After she firmly refused again, my mother walked away. On her way out, another worker did not understand why my mother was not leaving the donated items and was quite confused since she did not hear their interaction. Leaving the worker in disbelief, my mother explained to the worker what was said to her and she exit the building. My mother donated the clothes to Goodwill where someone will have to purchase these very nice items. Although, I understand that it could get short staffed at places like this, I am very upset that this lady turned her donation down regardless of the situation 💔 most of the women up there are in need and could use these very nice items to wear. What if we were planning on making a hefty cash donation, sadly this had put a very bad taste in my mouth and she did not represent the company well.

I love this place!! This is a day shelter for women and children. Opens 9am I believe. They offer a Continental breakfast. Pastries and cereal and toast n coffee and milk for the kids. They help single women down on their luck. Give them the tools to be marketable. Help raise self esteem and classes that help ace an interview. If you are homeless you can shower, wash clothes, if you have any. If not they have a clothes closet. They help with so much, just too much to name. It's a wonderful place for women to get back to a normalcy long forgotten.

The women I have encountered at St. Margaret's are some of the most caring, supportive women I have EVER met. I came in with nothing to my name but the clothes on my back and was fed, clothed, allowed to shower, eat, drink and even receive counseling services without ever giving a penny out of pocket. I have never, ever been made to feel less than or inferior and was welcomed with open arms to receive help at a time in my life where no one (family and friends) would offer assistance. The staff, volunteers, and women here brighten my day every time I visit. St. Margaret's house is a prime example of what a true Christ-centered organization should be doing to help disadvantaged women. Name ONE other organization in the area that let's women come as they are every weekday and eat and shower *for free*-I'll wait. I am not sure what energy or attitude previous reviewers brought to the table when they came to visit but I never have been belittled or left without being assisted with whatever concerns I had for the day. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the difference St. Margaret's House has made in my life and the life of other women and children. In my opinion, there is not a better place to donate to in the area. Please keep up the wonderful work you have been doing for the community! "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." Matthew 25:35-36

This is a woman's day shelter in downtown South Bend IN. It's open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and a really good resource for women and children. You can have a cup of coffee, breakfast and lunch, use address for mail, take a shower, use the telephone, or shop at the clothing closet. There's a computer lab, children's play area, and daily support groups. Services are free and the staff there is beautifully awsome!! Go see for yourself.
