My wife and I canceled our membership at the Y in mid-February. We were told we’d still be charged for March due to the cancellation timing. But then April rolls around and we’re charged again — $97 for two people — even though we hadn’t stepped foot in the place since February.

My wife called to sort it out, and they confirmed that we had submitted the cancellation back in February. Jade, the Membership Director Assistant, said the Membership Director was out of town until the following week, and we’d get a call from Jaime once they were back. That call never came.

My wife then had to leave a voicemail for Jaime, who finally called back hours later and said she’d put in the refund request and would follow up the next day. Shockingly — she never did. No call, no email, nothing. We called her again — no response. Days went by. Still nothing. Jaime has been completely unreliable and clearly doesn’t care about following through. Her customer service is awful.

This whole thing has been a mess of being passed around, ignored, and lied to. It’s been over two weeks and we’re still out nearly $100 for a membership we canceled months ago. The Y absolutely dropped the ball, and honestly, this feels less like a mistake and more like a scam.

This is not just bad service — it's unethical and unacceptable. If you’re thinking about joining, I’d recommend taking your money somewhere else. Because apparently, once they’ve got your card on file, good luck getting it back.

We’ve been going to this Y for years and have always had positive experiences. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The child watch staff are amazing. The instructors for swim and youth sports are great with the kids. Highly recommend.

If I can give this place 0 starts for their customer service I would. IF YOU ARE BLACK THEY WANT YOU TO STAY AWAY. This has been my 4th time coming to this place and the lady with the dark hair and glasses had tried her hardest to turn my family around and it is very sad. You would think as a paying individual they would treat customers with more respect. Jamie, the membership service manager was no help and she actually asked me to bring in more documentation to approve my family to become members. It is very sad how fast they took my money but I have to job through all these obstacles to be there. Its sad racism is still alive at their ages. Need new workers.

Southwest Branch YMCA is excellent..Offers a number of different exercise classes, with exceptional instructors...Knowledgeable, helpful and fun. Anita is a one on one instructor and excellent. very knowledgeable and makes exercises very thorough..great to talk to. .My balance and strength have really improved since Anita became my one on one trainer..Well worth my time and investment for her classes.

Recently joined again, after a many year hiatus from the Y. Joining process online was great, and staff are friendly and helpful.
Not very crowded, throughout all areas, especially the gym, and ample space to get a workout done.
Need to update the equipment in the cardio room, have more standards, with the clientele and update the space and technology, like the TV’s, and more high demand machines. Machines are covered in dust, and look like they haven’t been properly cleaned in awhile. The place was swarming with kids, like it was a daycare center, and needs more control. Could also use a reduction in tread mills and more elliptical machines, added, with screens above or separating them in the middle.
Was most dissatisfied with the fact that the locker room didn’t look very clean, and had the same carpet and beat up lockers, since they made the adult male locker room, 20+ years ago, which makes me concerned about cleanliness as a whole. Excited about my return, and to explore the plethora of classes offered. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend others to join, but the price it outrageous for a treading water facility. I canceled after my first month back, and won’t be back.

I love everything about this gym except that they don’t clean the family locker rooms. They are always full and get used frequently but staff don’t clean often. Mold in the showers and they smell. Also people don’t clean equipment after use. There should be staff cleaning and teaching users to do so as well. Swimming instructors are amazing!

Such a sick environment. Lots of equipment to choose from, but a negative to that is the amount of people that do not clean their equipment before and after usage!!! Also the creepiest men are in there.. I was on the treadmill and some guy came up to my daughter and said "very nice" in a disgusting manner.. She's fourteen!! Another time a guy came up to her and her friend and would not stop staring at them. Gross! This behavior is unacceptable especially be and this is actively happening to young girls in your gym. Would love to hear back to hear about what you will be doing about this.
