My wife and I walk our dog there. It's so pretty as the seasons change. We also like that it's as close to our home as it is. Makes it convenient to be in the middle of town. There are deer, as well as much other wildlife.
Update; it doesn't change much for me, cause we go there often to walk the dog. We really like it.

Wonderful non-profit duneland group - stewardship of our area! Offers educational programming, projects, volunteer opportunities in the various ecosystems, and advocacy for "saving the Dunes." Publishes guides for environmentally responsible living in this area. Long and respected history of conservation in this area as well. Much good energy on the part of staff and employees!

I live near here this is a very nice Nature Preserve. I guess you can only go on to this place if you set up a scheduled tour. When I was a kid 25 years ago one of my mom's ex-boyfriend's worked at this preserve and nobody was allowed on the property because there were rare flowers and other fun G the only grew on this property so no one was allowed to go on the property in case they were too damaged said fauna. Being that I knew someone that work there I did get to walk around it and it is very beautiful property but because no one is allowed to go there or at least was not allowed to go there there are many many large deer that come out of those woods and walk around the neighborhoods which can be a problem being that it is in the middle of Michigan City.

The natural beauty of this area is unbelievable. Take the time to vacation in your own backyard. The islands are a mind set, not a destination.
