Didn’t give out no resources or anything at all! No new clothes no free books not even resources. I was very upset with the people in the office. They were rushing you out before you can ask another question. No donations no resources for rescuing family.they have nothing for those in need.

Went in to help my aunt get some assistance or direction on where to start and she was immediately met with no and negative conversation. She was trying to explain her situation but she is epileptic and has had some strokes. So I understand it's hard to understand her at times. The ladies were very stern with her and then asked me if she was an immigrant. Which upset and offended the both of us. I wasn't aware that, that was a factor in getting assistance. She was speaking plain English. After I took over the conversation they softened up their tones and gave us some information. My aunt is trying her best to be self-sufficient but how offensive to be asked such a question. Some training on compassion should be given to these employees. It's humbling to have to ask for help. Just to be met with such disregard and disrespect is so hurtful to watch.

I have never thought I would ever have to give a food pantry a 1 star rating, but here it is! I already felt bad enough having to go get food from a pantry, and they just made it worse. I am new to the area and found the pantry Info. Upon entering, the staff was completely rude and demoralizing… I hope one day they are never in the situation,( or if they already have been), they haven’t learned anything. Kindness costs nothing! I pray that anybody that goes to this pantry has a pleasant experience. I appreciate the food for me and my family, but I will never go here again. ! Thanks to the man that was polite, and assisting me thru this process.

Greater Hammond has a food pantry where you get food once a month. They also provide other services like help with Nipsco. There is so much they help with to list it all here. The staff is friendly and helpful. The building is usually clean and well maintained. They also allow working medical assist K9 to be with you. I highly recommend Greater Hammond if you need food or help. Good luck. Prayers.
