My elderly mother signed up for meals from here. She really enjoyed the meals. However, she had health issues and was hospitalized. We tried to call to cancel the meals while she was in the hospital and no one would return our phone calls. We tried multiple numbers and left MANY voicemails. We even spoke to someone who transferreed us to another department. We were NEVER able to get ahold of ANYONE to help us. We kept getting pointed to different departments. Meanwhile, my mother was getting charged and meals were getting dropped on her doorstep that were literally just rotting in the heat. The only way to do anything is through the website. As you can imagine, many elderly people struggle with technology and it was very hard to get my mom, who was hospitalized and bed ridden to log into her account. I think this service, in theory, is a great idea and a blessing to many. However, anything that is targeted towards the elderly should be user friendly and should have a working phone number for when they or family members need help.

This organization did not honor their commitment to provide transportation after we qualified for it. They provide transportation to one person to the day care center, but refuse to provide the same service to others who have qualified for their services. This is discrimination at its finest. Today, the driver of their van inconsiderately blocked me in so I could not even back out of my parking place. Not at all pleased with this organization.

Update to my initial review and response to the company's remarks --

I am not denying that your services are wonderful. I see your vans and buses everywhere and I know the good you do. This is exactly why I got my husband qualified for your services. I desperately needed the transportation service you provide to his Adult Day Care Program as I am also caring for my very sick, 84 year old father.

My complaint, still, is - - discrimination. Week after week I watch your Age Well Senior Services Bus drop a client off at the Adult Day Program that my husband attends. When I tried to arrange the ride for my husband (again, after I made sure he was qualified, and he received a CLIENT ID # TS------ and letter from you explaining your services), I was told you don't deliver clients to said Adult Day Care Program. This is false. You do bring ONE person ONLY to the day program, denying all others your services. I do not lie - the fact is you clearly are discriminating when you offer the services to ONE, but not the others.

This review was solely for age well transportation. All in all it is amazing program and helps many seniors age in place. My complaint is specifically about the woman that answers the phone and takes the reservations. Her tone is extremely hostile. Maybe she is not aware of this, but this is not the first time I've spoken with her and gotten off the phone extremely upset. We understand you have a job to do and there are certain regulations for the program. You may want to consider that you have tone issues and that you are still there to serve the community with grace. In years past I've had the pleasure to deal with other employees in the transportation department, but since the change to this particular employee, I find myself absolutely disgusted with each interaction I have with her. You are in social services and an empathetic tone would go a really long way. Very thankful that the drivers are tremendously helpful and always have a positive attitude. If this employee cannot change her tone or attitude I would expect that perhaps she needs a non customer facing job. And last but not least, may I remind you that you are a private nonprofit that relies on donors to keep your doors open. I know this is a little bit above her pay grade, but she might want to consider that she might be speaking with someone who could be a past donor or knows other donors in the community, and it doesn't bode well for the organization to have such a poor representation of one of their biggest programs.

I am a physician and I did refer my patients to this transportation service. I have had an unbelievable amount of patients tell me how rude the drivers are. Sad how they treat some of the elderly. I do recommend this service at all!!

This review is not about the services of Age Well. Their services are quite good...if you can get them. I submitted an application for transportation services on behalf of my mother nearly a month ago. She requires regular transport to dialysis. No live human being seems to pick up the phone, and the one time I was able to speak to a human, she promised to call me back with a status update, and proceeded to never call me back. I would strongly recommend that Age Well hires better, more responsive staff.

Update: Thank you for responding to this review. If your explanation is true, then someone on staff ought to call and provide that explanation. I completely understand why you would suspend new applications, but not helpful if you don't inform people. Also, the single staff person I managed to speak to claimed that "lots" of applications were recently reviewed, hence the call back. But the call never happened, leaving me to believe that she forgot or didn't know what she was talking about.

This service used to be very good and reliable. Recently we had 2 bad experiences with them. They didn’t send a taxi because there was no one available and call us after 1.5 hours to see if we still needs driver.
The so cons problem recently we call 12 days ahead of time and they say our schedule is full.

I love this service. The meals are nutritionally balanced and the delivery people are very efficient and nice. I personally like the fact that I don’t have to make meal selections. In fact, a lot of foods I thought I didn’t like, I found that I do like when they are prepared for me. All in all it’s an excellent experience I would recommend to any senior

Thank you Age Well for your service. My drivers were so polite and helpful and right on time. This is a terrific service for Seniors who need help with transportation to medical appointments.
