I was temporarily at Casa Abuela’s until my new home was ready. Maryanne, the owner, has created an environment of love & caring for its residents in a home-like setting which is warm rather than institutionalized. There are plenty of activities which bring everyone together to be creative or to just have fun. Maryanne is a superb cook and baker who serves a wide variety of meals. She trains the other caregivers to follow in her footsteps while still being able to maintain their own personalities. I would not hesitate to recommend Casa Abuela’s to any family member seeking such an environment for a loved one who needs assisted living care. Deborah Art

It became apparent early this year that my mom would not be able to live on her own any longer. We reached out to a friend that helps with finding the right place (Sunshine placement). She told us about a new board and care that was just opening - Casa Abuela's. Mom had the pleasure of being the first resident. It's a beautiful home that feels very welcoming and "like home". There's great shared areas with lots of activity options. Mary Ann goes above and beyond to provide an inclusive, fun, friendly environment. She's always looking for that right thing for each resident to make them feel at ease. She and her team prepare delicious home made meals. She is always creating games and other fun and challenging things to do. This is the perfect home to have transitioned to and we are so fortunate to have found it. Everyone there feels like family to not just my mom, but to her family as well.

At some point in life many of us will arrive at the stage where we need help looking after a loved one as they transition or recover. On more than few occasions I have found myself visiting residential a care facility and rarely left feeling like they would be a place I would ever want to leave a love one or imagine myself having to be there. The smell, the darkness and even the overworked or unexperienced staff left me with the worst of feelings.That was until I walked into Casa Abuela, a beautiful place full of natural light, wooden floors that felt like a real home. Then there is the staff, attentive, caring, accommodating and clearly in this business for the right reasons. The location was 5 minutes away right in the neighborhood, making it easy for visits. Leaving my father-in-law there was not an easy thing to do but it was definitely right and best thing to. The level of care he received beyond expectation all the way to the end. I don't typically write reviews but this is a serious matter to consider and while you should always look at multiple options to suit your needs I would suggest starting at Casa Abuela's as an example of what great looks like.
