This place is never open and I have Never seen a dog, much less a person here. If they accept donations it must be a scam and they pocket it. Explains why the shelter has to use rescues out of town. Don't waste your time with this place.

Highly recommend!

I volunteered here for 3 years and enjoyed every minute of it.

Debra was my mentor and I believe still head of AAHS. She is honestly so caring and intelligent.

You won't be sorry if you volunteer or if you're an appropriate fit for the right potential pet!

Absolutely, they are fair!

Do be wary to call and/or research beforehand.

They may or may not be there.

Also, the staff here asks that you DO NOT abandon any animals here.

It's strictly against their policy and they DO have cameras that absolutely work.

So keep this in mind.

Great place, friendly people. They take great care of the animals here in a clean and secure facility. They help people with lower income spay and neuter their animals and offer great advice. Can't say enough good things about this place and the plans they have for the future of the place are very promising as well, so looking forward to seeing that.

Nobody there. Will not take in stray dogs per recording. All kennels were empty. Recording sounded like " cherry pickers- we only take what we like".

I thought AAHS was a decent rescue but I was sadly mistaken!!! I went to bat for the Humane Society against people who were trash talking AAHS. I feel like a complete fool now! AS A VOLUNTEER for a time I fell in love with the dogs there... there are (or were) 3 dogs that have been there for over 2 years. 2 of them were born there! I foster 1 dog at a time in my home and my adoption rate is higher than AAHS. I offered to help take one of those 3 out of there to foster in my home so he could get out of an 8 x 8 prison cell he’s lived in his entire life. I was told no! He was fine right were he is! Both Tater and Bruce had loving homes to go to but because AAHS was upset about the previous volunteers no long donating countless hours to AAHS They were DENIED their adoption. You sent 2 terrified dogs who have never been out of the shelter to a place they did not know and those people let them escape out of the fence and now Tater is dead! My heart hurts so badly for that poor boy! In my opinion AAHS needs to be run by someone else!!! Or just shut down! AAHS is depriving dogs of a loving home for their own selfish pride! I am just sick to my stomach over it!

I love the care given to the animals there. You should visit their yard sale once a month and take them your donations as they are well deserving of them.
