I was a chaperone with my daughter’s 6th grade class. While several of the activities were fun and engaging for their level, several were not and lost their attention as they would last far too long for this age group. Shortening these classes into smaller sections would certainly help with maintaining their attention. I also think there should be varied curriculum for varied ages. Also, other schools and groups attend at the same time and meals times and some classes are shared. It gets a little crazy at times with a few hundred people in one area at a time. Additionally, the food was absolutely awful. For the cost of the program I believe the food could be significantly improved.

Pros: great access to trails, offers observation decks for star gazing, modern and clean facilities, friendly staff, serves wonderful food. Dormitories have plenty of common area rooms to spread out. There are full size and dormitory size refrigerators available to keep food cold. Also lots of cabinets and storage available to keep shelf stable food and drinks. Very ideal setting for group retreats/gatherings.

Cons: minimal sound insulation in dormitories. You can easily hear noise from above and from the rooms next door you when trying to sleep - especially troublesome if you’re staying on the bottom level. Bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper! Cost is a bit more when compared to other environmental learning centers in the state.

I went to this place in the winter in my 6th grade class a few years ago, the food was absolutely terrible, multiple signs of bed bugs, rudeness of staff, and not to mention the skin biting cold, would not recommend, it isn’t worth it.

I came here in my middle school days was fun. Food was ok. Learning and seeing new things. Getting over my fear of heights that rope climb.

I go with my co-op class every 1.5 years. Its amazing there! I love the hike to Wolf Lake. The class experience is great and hands-on. Definitely for older kids though. Lodging was really nice and comfy. Recommend not going when everything is freezing though <3

Amazing place. Great views and learning experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The Superior Hike was 3 miles and had spectacular views. The food was fantastic!! It’s all made by a local Volunteer fire fighter. Very nice kitchen staff.

Went with my 5th grade class in the early 90s. Highly recommend. One of the most memorable trips I’ve ever had. The north shore is packed with adventure.

I have been coming here every summer since I was 4 and I love it. Yes, the food has been mediocre at times but it has improved immensely and I have never once gotten sick from it. I have yet to meet a staff member who has been mean or not cared about there job. I went to the day camps for as long as I could and they are some of my best memories. I look forward to coming here every summer and hope to keep coming back for many years.
