Staff is the example of what happens when you give power to ghetto minded people. The most unprofessional staff. Even at the supervisory level. I’m guessing there’s no education or proper training provided. It’s a shame, but this particular place is NOT a safe place mentally nor physically. For those of us who’ve had a loved one in the system, it’s hurtful to have to deal with incarceration. So when an opportunity comes along for them to transition, you tend to get hopeful. This place is NOT it!! Please do your research. It’s sad!! Yet no one cares enough to make a change.

After serving a 31- year sentence I was sent to the Walter Brooks House. Prior to my arrival, I was advised that this facility was an excellent place for long-term offenders seeking a smooth transition into society. Upon entry, I was assigned Counselor Francesca Caruso. This counselor has done nothing to assist in my re-entry. All of my documentation, I acquired on my own, Social Security, State id Husky etc.
On at least one occasion I was written up for being out of place even though I was at work, my Transitional Placement Package was bumbled, which caused me to be denied community housing. Attempts to address these microaggressions internally have proved futile. I attempted to file a grievance utilizing the D.O.C administrative remedies form. However, Counselor Francesca denied me access to grievance forms. These actions in and of themselves violate my most basic first amendment right, of access to the courts. To date, this counselor has operated with impunity. I have been in the Walter Brooks House for over five months and have watched as similarly situated Returning Citizens have been released on Transitional Placement, while I continue to be housed here.
I would not recommend this facility to anyone that is serious about rehabilitation. The staff is very unprofessional and incapable of providing treatment methods for long-term offenders.
1. With respect to an overall review, the food department is very good and accommodating to religious diets as well as allergies.

2. The Director appears to be understanding of the plight associated with the barriers which offenders face upon release, but appears unwilling to make the systemic change needed to assist returning citizens.

3. If you acquire assistance in re-entry I do not recommend this house.

4. This house is big on rent and short on meaningful re-entry services.

Some staff here are respectful and may want to help, but for the rest they are disrespectful, wannabe bullies who get off on controlling those who are in situations where they can't stand up for themselves because they will just be thrown back in jail.great job giving people who have anger issues positions over people struggling to reaclimat back in society, with the exception of Keith Tyrese and Elvis, and the entire kitchen staff, who he been helpful and decent, this is just a paycheck to the rest and they have no business working in this field.i personally may seek legal representation for my issue.if I had a choice, and I dont,I wouldn't be here.its not a place for recovery.

Disgraceful, unprofessional and the biggest liars you would ever meet and the director is the WORST one of all. Their own staff is providing the drugs to the clients. They do NOT have your best interest in health or well being. They cover up deaths of clients and try to brush it away. Once again the director is the dirtiest one of all and you wouldn't be able to find a worst place to go. This place should be shut down and anyone can contact me for more details my lawyer is going to prove how unprofessional and covert they are. Good luck with beating this case Darell your going to pay in court legally for the wrong you've done to the clients who've lost their lives and the family who suffer from those losses. You were dead wrong how you dealt with it and how unprofessional you staff responded. Thanks for the trauma you caused me and many others.

It's a facility for inmates being returned back into society. It needs to be renovated.

This is a place to help those who are incarcerated reintegrate back into society. The city needs more places like this.
