This was my first visit, I came up with my local VFW Post. This is a great program to help military families/veterans/VFW and Auxiliary members and families.

The museum has captured just how far they have come since the beginning. I think some of the things they had to offer back in the day where amazing and a one in a life experience for the kids. It’s a shame some of the programs had to change, as all things change with the times. But that also being said they also adapted and changed for the better to help families get back on there feet.

If you live near by, are passing by, or you are part of the VFW or any other military organization, I would highly encourage you to set up a trip to come out and visit this wonderful organization!

I lost my respect for the V.F.W, for many years I have help assist, donated, volunteered and raised funds to save post 1136, in which I was disrespected, humiliated and treated poorly with the amount I sacrificed. The national head quarters were no help along with the VFW in Kansas when it came to them trying to stiff me over my hall room refund that the Commander and quartermaster tried stiffing me on over a disagreement on how the post has been poorly ran to the ground. Do not waste your time donating or assisting the vfw because most of the money goes back to top shelf liquor not actually helping veterans. The place is full of overly entitled, overly opinionated and narcissistic veterans who are pissed off at life and feel that you owe them the world because they came back home. My brother is a deceased veteran and was never like the Veterans who are here. Not only I lost my respect for the vfw but now I will never volunteer for any non profit that involves veterans who drink. Good luck in 20 years when you push out all of your help and volunteers.

I spent 9 years of my life here as a child growing up I lived in Ohio house, Iowa house and Indiana house. I was so incredibly fortunate to have so many people who loved and cared for me here. So grateful for the discipline and opportunities I had as a child here. I remember Nancy from the community center, Jo Cox, piano lessons, 4h raising hogs and rabbits, playing volleyball and other sports. I absolutely loved my time there and sometimes go back to visit. These years I spent here will follow me all the days of my life. God bless everybody that showed love and kindness to me and my siblings. Thank God for all of you ❤️✝️👏🫶🙇🙌

Wish we did more research about this place before applying and read the lawsuits. What a nightmare. Knowing what we know now through researching, were glad the application fell through.

For an organization that says they help vets, I'm shocked at the ridiculously vague and long process of applying here. By the time you are at a place in life where you need to apply here it is a last resort. My wife and 10yr son and I applied just weeks away from homelessness and we did tell them about it. Had to sit thru 2 interviews of 2 1/2 total hours long filed with bull.s. questions like what are your strengths and weaknesses. Gave them all way too much personal information that i have no idea what they do with now. Waited about 10 days for a response after 2 weeks of applying... to be denied days just before were about to be kick out with the only reason as stated "you are not ready" ....... are you serious? Not ready for what? Not ready to freaking survive They gave us another list of organizations to call just like all the others out there...

Why do you have empty homes when there are homeless veterans in the streets I had to pass on the way to your community. Oh its because you're process is completely utterly lacking...

What a joke. They aren’t willing to help a single mom but, can help a married couple with two working incomes in the program. I feel like I was overlooked and not treated fairly because I’m a single mom. I feel like they were prejudice and wanted only people who would look good for donors to get more money. They don’t help people who truly need the help. It’s a disgrace. Jenn from the help line is rude and isn’t respectful. This is an embarrassment for the American people who’s relatives serve and need help. Awful. Completely awful.

I went there on a trip with my VFW Post 3944 and other VFW post for the childrens Halloween party and a tour of the homes. It was a pleasant visit and all of the workers there worked so hard to get this party together for these kids and their families. It was a happy place and the children and their families looked very content. The homes were well maintained and the grounds were just beautiful.
My Post will continue donations as we have for years and keep this beautiful place running for our Military families.
We love you guys and look forward to seeing you next year.
