This rescue is great to volunteer with and adopt from . We have personally over the last decade adopted multiple dogs from Kathy. We are Foster failures and have most recently adopted a hard to place 9 yr old French Bulldog. Sergent Sam is a sweet boy but we knew that because of his age he would not be. Adopted quickly.

He has fit in well with our 9 yr old chihuahuas and our 11 yr old Staffie ! Kathy instinctively knows what Foster’s will do well in our home with our personal dogs.

She is very selective of who she allows to adopt because she wants the best home for every dog. This is all for the benefit of the dog as it is very difficult on the dog when they are returned, regardless of the reason.

I highly recommend Valley of the Sun Dog rescue!

Everyone I interacted with was knowledgeable and obviously, genuinely, loves dogs. My puppy's foster mom was kind and helpful. Puppy was spayed, 1st set of shots, rabies shot, and microchiped for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

So on June 3rd my girlfriend and I went into the petsmart off of single butte and the US 60 looking to add a puppy to our family and our older female( blue heeler/pit mix). We had already picked out the puppy to bring into room to meet days before, so when the older gentleman bring in the puppy, he immediately pushed the puppy into our older dogs face and she obviously didn't like that and raised her gums, she didn't bark once, didn't try to attack. He did that about 2 more time until he said that our dog was aggressive.this place this very unprofessional. They clearly have no proper knowledge or are criticized while meeting you as a person or you're dog if it is pittbull or pitbull mix. So we went out and got a puppy from a different place and our older dog is such a great momma to our female puppy! DO NOT RECOMMEND

First, I see the negative reviews and we just didn't have that experience at all. Mercy, so many pit bulls for adoption. I checked 6 other shelters then I came here. Every one of the shelters were just dominated by unwanted Pit Bulls. But I can see where any Rescue may have to be particularly concerned about who adopts their pit bulls given what people sometimes do when they get one of these types of dogs. They must choose pet parents that are in the best interest of the dog, not for the benefit of the dog owner so, yes I think they do what they are supposed to be doing. If they merely wanted the $$$, there would be no screening whatsoever.
You just can't find a normal female dog anywhere, especially a small younger one. Well my family found our beautiful little forever angel here and we are so happy with her and she with us. What a spectacular fit! Her name is Chantel, but one of our family members renamed her Chantilly. She plays ball, takes walks with us, wrestles, sleeps in her little bed when she wants and goes outside to play when she wants. So gentle, so loving and so much fun, we just adore her. We want the shelter to know what a well behaved potty trained little girl she is. And she hugs and kisses us every chance she gets. She goes to each family member for more!
We are pleased and impressed. Perfect experience for us and 10 stars!!! thank you a void has been filled in our lives.

I have been trying to reach them via phone, emails, and submitting an adoption application for over a week now. No responses back whatsoever. Dog still shows as available.
*update the rescue did end up getting back to me when they updated the dogs status online to adopted. The email stated they have forwarded my application to the foster parent, but the dog had a lot of applications with many before me, so it’s not likely I will get to adopt the dog. Glad they finally reached back out. That’s all I was looking for, some communication.

At first everything went smoothly and then I’d was awful! I emailed back and forth about the dog I wanted and then set up an appointment to meet him and have my dogs meet him, I showed up on time and waited over 30 minutes before actually getting to meet him, ultimately I chose to adopt him and take him home, that process went well and the lady I dealt with was kind and professional. I noticed a few days later that I was given a Petsmart coupon book with my adoption, great! I needed a collar, BUT the coupons were expired, I adopted 5/13 and the coupons had expired 4/30, so that’s literally not my fault, furthermore I contacted the owner of this “rescue” to tell her about my experience and the coupon issue, she’s NEVER responded. They don’t care, they just want to make money off adoption fees. ADOPT FROM A REAL RESCUE who knows what they’re doing. I work for a legitimate rescue who cares about the entire process as a whole, specially the pets. If we made mistakes like what happened to me we’d be tripping over ourselves trying to fix it ASAP and making sure we make amends. DON’T adopt here. They need to do way better, the only positive thing I can say is that the dog I chose is a hilarious goober and I love him more than life itself.

As a previous reviewer commented they were very nice at first, we adopted a dog and it ended up not being a good fit for our family, notified the rescue and made arrangements to bring the dog back, there was miscommunication about when they would be at their adoption location and I ended up going on the wrong day (my fault), and so we went the following weekend and they were upset we didn't tell them we were coming so they took in other dogs that would have taken his place (this is where the miscommunication was, they never requested confirmation we were coming the following weekend and we assumed that was obvious). They pressured my spouse for why we were returning the dog after we had already explained it in email to confirm we could bring him back. Once there they pressured my husband and were upset we felt it wasn't a good fit for our family and suggested we leave the dog in a kennel (we did kennel train but it's not fair to a dog to stay in a kennel ALL the time) he ended up flustered and made comments that were untrue in order to get out of the situation and they ran with what he said and posted it all over social media saying we 'threw the dog away' by taking it back to the rescue because we 'didnt like him'. This pet unfortunately was adopted and returned once before we had adopted him which likely added fuel to their fire but they never mentioned that on their social media, and blasted us instead for sympathy and to gain donations. Its sad to say I'm hesitant to ever adopt from a rescue again because of this experience. I would never recommend this rescue to anyone as they are very mean if the pet turns out not to be a good fit, which should be the ultimate goal of a rescue.
