They seemed like a great service at first. Very helpful, but over the years, they always say they never have funding. I’m being evicted and truenorth tells me “we don’t have enough funding to help” it’s been like this for years now. This company should either do better or don’t tell people you can help when you guys never have the funds!

I had a good experience. It took them about 30 days to process,so it can get nerve wrecking, but I am aware they help a tremendous amount of people. Thankful for what they do.

I just got off the phone with True North Muskegon so I figured I would give my review. June 27th. Last call 12:06 pm. Honestly it hasn't been a good experience. It seems that every reason of why I " would not qualify" for assistance was brought up. I mentioned my main source of income as well as my additional source of income which Is Sports Betting. I was told (in so many words) that my additional income was unacceptable an and I could feel a weird feeling through the phone. It would be nice to speak with more professional people who don't pick you apart and leave everything person with reassurance after the call is complete; whether they are able to help or not. Consider this a tip. Thank you.

I usually don't have a negative comment, but today I do. My fiancee passed away unexpectedly on the 9th of November. I had no idea he wasn't paying the property taxes. Needless to say I had to vacant the house in 10 days. I'm honestly homeless. I contacted True North first thing. I feel like they are giving me the run around. They mentioned they put people in a motel for 7 nights, which I do know this & mentioned it. I am living in a friends small camper (small). Plus all I can find is 2 bedroom apartments, no one has a 1 bedroom. I've checked everywhere. I was told by them plus Autumn Grove apartments that's only for 2, people. WOW really. Is there anyone out there that can PLEASE HELP ME

This place is awful. They pick and choose who they want to help. They've housed the Cubitts SEVERAL times for months on end, payed their rent, bought their baby supplies, clothes, Auto insurance, gas cards ectect!!! But my family only needed a one week hotel stay and we're turned down. The lady said "I just don't think you'll be able to find a place. We could help but I just don't think you'll be successful". This place is extremely bias. They discriminate. I would not EVER donate to them!!

Happy 50th anniversary True North Community Services! 🥳
I have watched this agency grow in the 40 years that I have lived in Fremont.
I have worked with them both personally and professionally.
What a treasure this agency is for Newaygo county.
A very big thank you to the food pantry volunteers!
Thank you so much to Jennifer Knapp! It was a pleasure working with you over the last several months.
Thank you to you all!

One of the WORST experiences I have dealt with. Type of person who doesn't file for assistance and still seems I can't get any. Called and left messages asking for someone to contact me regarding housing assistance due to a bad decision on a job I accepted. NO CALLS. Called again. NO calls. Called a third time and finally got a call back. Was told "we tried calling once but your voicemail was full" . I wasn't aware my voicemail had been full but even so, how would I know they called unless they tried again? Their here to help people but can't make more than one phone call in a matter of a couple weeks?

Moving on. I set up an intake appt. Apparently DHS can take all of your information over the phone and online but True North requires you to take time off work when you could be earning money to come and do an appointment that is literally answering the same questions you could answer over the phone to "see if they can assist you" . I asked what all do I need to bring with me? Their response? "Just bring your ID" So go to appointment with an ID. To be told they can't do anything until they have a court ordered eviction notice or a demand for possession. So I go get demand fro possession from Landlord (because that helps the relation ship) and turn that in. Don't hear anything. Don't hear anything. Call and leave a voicemail and STILL no call back. Call again at 4:50 to get a recording that their office closed at 5 p.m. and then when I hit the extension for my "case worker" she answers the phone. I asked her if she received what she needed and she said yes. I asked what is next and I am told I have to WAIT ANOTHER WEEK before she meets with her manager to even discuss possibly helping my family.

Where is the comfort? Where is the sense of urgency? People all over our county and state abuse the system and get everything paid for including food, cash assistance, housing, electric, heat, you name it and I cam spending weeks on what the state titles a "State of Emergency" ?

Should work on comforting the ones who are clearly in an obvious state of needing help and maybe contact their landlord to let them know you are in fact working on it? My landlord is at a point he feels I am stringing him along since the state took days to deny me then I have been dealing with this going into 4 weeks with True North.
