The Shack I have heard about for years but alway thought no to expensive. We decided to something just for us after all these years and Best decision ever!

The rate includes a wonderful separate and quiet room. We had a queen with an in room hot tub. It is cozy and welcoming! The decor makes it feel as if you feel as if you are in your own beautiful cabin.

In addition the rate included a delicious dinner buffet a banana split social later in the evening and a wonderful breakfast buffet. All of the food is wonderful and much of it homemade!

We went in the fall and the lake and colors were fantastic! We will be back year after year!

We love this place. It was $235.00 for the night, on a Friday. We got the hot tub and fireplace room in the Livery. When you consider that you get dinner, breakfast, and an evening banana split, for 2, that price is cheap. The grounds have a lot of things to look at and do. Summer would be the best time to visit to enjoy the lake amenities, however we love the cozy winter visits as well. The log cabin layout for the whole lodge and out buildings give lots of photo ops. We will continue to return here for relaxing, and layed back weekends.

I absolutely loved this place when I came here the first time for my birthday, I came with family and we paddled the lake which was beautiful. Their food was amazing and I loved the staff so friendly and it was owned by a nice old couple. Well as you can see it was sold. I came back for my anniversary 4 years later. I called to book a room for a certain day over the weekend they ended up not having my room I booked available. Which was completely fine because they graciously gave us a nicer room for the trouble. Which was the only highlight to the trip. Being in my young 20s we stood out like a sore thumb. Everyone seemed to love to stare including staff. We were asked by an employee if and I quote “we even had a room here” and had us give her our room number. Extremely rude. Only because we sat in I guess the wrong place for dinner because they didn’t have anything posted. The food was horrible. We stayed two nights and couldn’t eat the second night because they had a tray of supposed to be crispy chicken and it was soggy. On top of there being no real alternative if you don’t like the main meal. I liked being able to order off the menu like it used to be. The only food that wasn’t mostly gross was the ice cream. The guy who checked us in did the ice cream and he was the only genuinely nice seeming person we talked to the entire time. The jacuzzi tub was also absolutely gross. We ran it when we got there and there was a lot of gross floaty stuff. Definitely not well maintained anymore. Just sad.

This best way to describe this place is magical. Having dinner And breakfast with a view of the lake was so relaxing. Loved the museums, trail and pedal boats. Lots of places to sit and relax with many different views. The room was excellent . We loved the rocking chairs!

The food was good and the rooms are very large. The service was also good and I appreciated seeing the owner stepping in to help. The location is pretty remote but if you enjoy the outdoors you will be ok.

We loved our stay at The Shack! It is a great place to relax and get away from everyday stresses! Every employee all the way up to the owner treats you like family. The 100 acre property is open for guests to go for walks of the trails, sit outside for a bonfire, or just relax with a beautiful view of the lake. The buildings are beautiful and very rustic. There are 55 rooms with some of them having a kitchenette and many of them having a hot tub or a fireplace. Dinner is a buffet of comfort food! We had ham, roast beef, barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes, cheesy potatoes, green beans, fruit, bread pudding, and rolls! Then, later in the evening comes banana splits! You get your choice of at least 10 different ice creams and you get 3 big scoops! They put it right on top of the bananas and you can add your own toppings. There is also a game room located downstairs. The breakfast buffet is also wonderful with a variety of choices! This place would be great for family reunions, church retreats, or any kind of getaway! The entire property is non smoking. Check it out for yourself!
