Awesome structure and piece of history! The brownstone used to build this building, which was once the Flood Mansion, was brought all the way to SF from the same quarries back east that were used to build the beautiful brownstone homes in New York City ! Think of what that must have cost ..

Building is amazing. An impressive part of the landscape. Unfortunately you can't even grace the steps of this building without spending more money than most people have.

Yes, it may be an anachronism, but so are the cable cars. At no cost to the public, the members have preserved and continuously maintained this landmark building since the Great Earthquake of 1906. Had that not been the case, it would undoubtedly have been demolished by now. Frankly, the place is really not suitable for any other purpose I could imagine.
