I was molested twice there by staff..i was 14/15 years old. I am now 39. It took me this long to be able to post this review.. i saw a report in the news some years back about one of the staff members going to jail for the same thing.. they also had children doing admin work with no pay..

I'm currently working on a video regarding my time here. I know the reviewer Jeff Johnson, I'm not sure if he remembers me but I know exactly what he's talking about. We were there together in 2004. There is a division between administration & houseparents. They will hire anyone off the street (I worked in the office after school so I can tell you some things). There's too much to type so I will link my video when available.

Edit Update 2023: I have not filmed the video yet. What I will say is this I arrived at the children’s home of Easton on July 23rd 2004 by October 14th 2004 I was s*xually assaulted by another male resident in the “tutoring building” during school hours. Which everyone knew and no one did anything about. I was 14 and left alone in a small room with Christopher S who was 17. The reason everyone knew is because he went around bragging about it, after telling me not to tell anyone. I was questioned by a female staff member from the tutoring building the same day that it happened just hours later, and instead of anything being done about it. I was yelled at to the point of tears. I was tormented by other residents because of that for the duration of my time in their custody (four years). Residents who weren’t even there when it occurred and would arrive months later would be filled in on what had happened and would join in the torment.

That was a worse situation than the situation I had come from. There were times I wanted to take my life which was egged on by a houseparent and several female residents. To keep me “in line” and make sure that I wasn’t telling anyone outside what was going on the houseparents primarily Sally P and other female residents would sit behind me while I was on the phone as a way to intimidate me to keep me quiet. Majority of the time they would make comments to me to try to upset me and get me to end my phone call early.

The foster parents are no better and have no problem telling kids they are just a check to them. I’ve seen foster parents hit and degrade the kids in their care. The foster mother I ended up with would tell another female (same age as me) “the only thing you’ll be good for is laying on your back”. I reported all of that/the last time I attempted to speak up about the mistreatment was October 17th 2007. Nothing was done about it and the mistreatment actually increased by that foster parent and her daughter.

Many years later (a literal decade), when I mentioned that I was going to talk about what it was like living with that foster mother, the daughter of that foster mother went on an abusive harassment campaign against me.

This place “collects kids”. There was no escape from the abuse I suffered at the hands of other children and staff members, until the day I left Easton on June 4th 2008. Walking at my high school graduation had always been something I was excited for. If I made the decision to walk at my high school graduation at Easton area high school I would’ve had to endure two more weeks of abuse. I did not walk at my high school graduation.

There were many days that the only meal that I would eat would be breakfast or lunch which consisted of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I got from the high school that I attended. When I returned to campus from school, I would just isolate myself inside my bedroom as a way to escape the abuse I was being dealt from other residents and staff members. Even when isolated in my bedroom, the other females would yell things at me. It was a constant humiliation ritual.

There was a particular male staff member in his 50s Frank M. that would refer to me as jail bait. One day when transporting me in 2006 he repeatedly punched me in the same spot on my left arm.

I have been involved with the Children's Home for over 10 years, and am always inspired by the good work they do to help change the trajectory of the lives of the kids and young adults that find themselves there due to unfortunate circumstances.

If your not familiar with them, I encourage to reach out and see how you can participate in driving positive change in our community.

Thanks Anita, Dan and Team for the amazing work you are doing.

So grateful my dad and all his siblings got to be raised in this environment! From being born into unfortunate circumstances that no child should have to go through, to given a real chance and the right structure, gave him the mindset and community to make a life of abundance happen.

As a child i spent time in this place. It was hell. I ended up with multiple trips to wilson area hospital for head ct scans after being knocked out by a staff member. His name was tony. Big muscle builder type of guy. These five star reviews are a joke. This place was literally hell for me. There were some staff members who seemed like they cared. Jason and josh being 2 examples. But the majority of the staff was neglectful and covered up the abuse that the children there with me suffered. A girl literally hid under the underpass on the path to the main building for 3 weeks hoping to not be found. Afriad of the people supposed to be taking care of her. These accusations can be proven as there is a paper trail. This place was despicable. The worst experience of my life. The only part that made being there bearable was sneaking off to the canal park and watching the animals. Absolutely horrible.
