I am so grateful for the care my father received. Hospice of the Valley is one of the reasons I feel my dad passing was beautiful and not horrible. Our main nurse Val was simply amazing, treating my dad like he was her dad. The staff was so caring and made my entire family feel so comfortable and special. Drew the champlin was one of the best in our entire journey. The experience working with Hospice of the Valley was just pure excellence. What a group to help my dad and our family deal with a really emotional and trying time with grace. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will always remember the short time we spent together.... Thank you to everyone!

Kindness, compassion, caring, empathy, competence…these are the best words to describe the professional and volunteer staff at HoV in Surprise. My elderly father recently fell and suffered a brain injury that eventually led to his death. He spent his last week on this Earth in the care of the team at HoV, and they made his passing peaceful and comfortable.

The nurses (Ana, Danielle, and Jorge), the aids, and the volunteer staff kept my dad clean, comfortable, and peaceful so that he could pass with dignity. The rooms and the entire facility are clean, well-maintained, well-appointed, and comfortable for the patient and their family.

A veteran honored my father’s service during the Korean War. A couple of women came in to sing a cappella songs that were calming and soothing. The staff and volunteers stopped by nearly every hour to check on my dad and on us to see how everyone was doing. Ashly, the social worker, provided helpful information on funeral arrangements. The nurses met us at the door when we arrived on the morning of my dad’s last day to inform us that he had passed a few minutes before our arrival; they didn’t want us to walk into the room unaware of his passing.

The entire experience was what one would hope it would be…professional, competent, caring, and effortless. Thank you to the entire Surprise HoV team for caring for my father and for our family in a very difficult time.

When mom was taken into hospice care I was very impressed with how great the coordinator and nurses were. As bad as the situation is they made it as easy as it could be and were friendly and comforting.

The staff is unimaginably kind, respectful, and accommodating in every way. They allow visitation 24 hours a day (for pets, too!) and are experts in doubly caring for both the hospice patient and for you as the surviving family. I admittedly may have been more of a handful than my dad, their patient.

The chaplain volunteered to get to know my dad for who he was and was able to articulate a meaningful prayer that was respectful and spiritual without being overly religious which vibed perfectly with our family’s beliefs.

The social worker made herself actively available to me and was very approachable. Though it’s not my style to seek these types of resources and though I pushed her away, they were much appreciated. Thank you, Ashley.

The nurses and doctor bluntly and compassionately guided me through the difficult and unexpected transition of my dad’s diagnosis from ICU to hospice as I painfully grappled with the reality of the situation. Thank you, Danielle, and every other kind nurse I encountered, for being just so patient with me and for treating my dad with incredible care. I appreciate you blending so effortlessly into our family’s grieving process and actually being able to accentuate it with your insight.

This whole process was the worst thing I have ever been through and losing a parent is more painful than I could ever imagine was possible, but Hospice of the Valley mitigated that pain as much as they could.

My only suggestion in an area that I personally found to be lacking would be to design and execute a meeting at the onset to explain in detail to the patient’s loved ones the care plan and treatment expectations in hospice, which may have eliminated at least some of the initial pain and confusion for us.

In July of 2023 we had to place my Grandfather in hospice. I understand how scary and difficult it is for a family to have to find a place to put your loved one in. We've all heard stories and having to put a loved one in a care facility is a hard enough decision as it is. But for our family, having my grandfather here was the best choice for us. Staff is extremely respectful, and kind, the facility is clean and well maintained, and they were open 24 hours a day which was wonderful because it accommodated our large family and everyone's visiting needs and most importantly allowed one or more of us to be there all the times so he was never there without a loved on by his side. (Which was extremely important to us. ) So thank you to each and every single person there. From the people that clean the rooms to the medical staff, and everyone in-between. Thank you. Being trusted with someone's loved one is a huge undertaking and I cant thank you enough.

My great-grandmother spent the last two weeks there, and everyone was absolutely amazing here. We did take her home where she passed the following day. But the whole time, they were very accommodating, even with my grandmother being very picky. I'd be happy to experience my end of life stages here.
