Mostly rebuilt in the 20th.Century retaining some earlier remnant fabric including the western tower and the ancient doorway entrance.
The exterior, rich in texture, a medley of flint rubble, red and brown brick and stone dressings.
An evocative Lychgate and 2 sentinel yew trees memorable in a graveyard strewn with eroding gravestones, markers and chest tombs completes a setting that conjures an enduring English archetype.
An active community here.

Excellent refurbished chapel. The Barnes Community Association should be very proud of how it has been used to benefit the whole community.

This such a beautiful building. It was partly rebuilt after a fire caused serious damage. A wonderful sense of community, and an old bell tower.

They Ave a group of bell ringers that practice regularly. St Mary's often run charity events, exhibitions and takes part in the Barnes music Festival. Every year they run an amazing bike sale raising much needed funds.

I was part of W.S.Trys Ltd building team that restore St Mary's church, Barnes.
We were a familiar team of Carpenters, Bricklayers and labours along with 3 different building manager /foremen.
As a building Joiner myself i made the 2 Arches that are featured in the Langton Chapel roof. These were made on site cut into sections and the arc of the arches were calculated and drawn on the 2 assembled arches on site.....
THEY were both sent in sections to our company machine workshop, where the arcs were cut out on the shortened sections by machine operator on an electric bandsaw.
The arches were different in span, because of the distance between the Chapel walls were different . Probably because of it's extreme age of the Chapel building .
