I wanted to write a review because I had bad service here twice. Actually three times a few years ago my mom and I had been turned away just for the way that we looked. I'm not sure if they thought we were poor or what it was, but we were turned away and treated really rudely. But even in this last week we thought about restarting our membership cuz we have another local Y but the pool is out of service at this time and I've tried twice to contact this Y instead on two different days about four phone calls later. Still no answering of the phones. Even if I call on a busy time or a non-busy time. I either get put on hold the first time I got sent to voicemail several times the second time on a different day which was today. I called the first time and I waited a while before they finally picked up the phone to tell me to wait longer and then I waited about 7 minutes before I hung up. I called again the second time. They made me wait about 5 minutes then sent me to voicemail and then the third time I called today they made me wait about 3 or 4 minutes before telling me to hold again when I explain to the woman that I had already waited 6 to 10 minutes the last time she put me on hold she proceeded to tell me how there was a client in front of her that she was still helping and how that person was there in person so they were more important than I was. I don't know who this woman is. All I know is that she needs to learn a few things about customer service. I've been in the industry for almost 20 years for customer service. Everything from food and beverage to personal training to theme parks. Everything you could think of and just for that, she's convinced me well enough to cancel my membership so I appreciate her whoever she is. Please know that I'm really grateful for you. I don't want to be part of a membership that treats people this way, especially because I think everybody's equal and I know for a fact I've worked in other jobs that were way higher class and there's a time limit a person is supposed to wait on hold on the phone and there's procedures for all these things. So if you're struggling and you need help, that's maybe something you need to talk to your boss about, but you should learn a few things about how to treat a customer. Never going here again. Have a beautiful day. God bless.

The staffing is constantly changing. This location of YMCA has helped me cope with personal loss through friendship, exercise and growth. No complaints except other than keep religion out it. The manager Christian talks a lot about Jesu but doesn't acknowledge the others... "God". The showers could be cleaner! The lifeguards could be friendlier. I quit here yesterday after 10 months. It's a good place but just don't get too friendly or close with management! 24Hours and L. A. Fitness have better hours...

Overall 3.5/5 stars from me.

I recently moved to Chula Vista and wanted to call to inquire about swimming lessons for my child. I called multiple days and times last week, as well as this week, and nobody answers the phone. After waiting 10 min you would think someone would answer.
I frequent many ymca locations in the county, also call them frequently to ask questions and never had a problem with any other location answering the phone.
Perhaps they don’t have front desk staff to answer the phone.
I will not be attending this location.

We are so fortunate to have the Southbay YMCA! All of the staff is incredible and the vibe there is always positive and very customer service friendly!
Christian Varner is running an awesome sports program that is so enjoyable for our 4 year old boy who has participated both in T-ball and soccer. Fabian was Matheo’s previous soccer coach and David Vargas is now his T-ball coach. Both are excellent!! Also, Daniel Carreon is a key part of the team there and always ready to help as is the whole staff there.
Along with the great facilities and staff, the supplemental sports programs that they offer are unbelievably awesome and I hope that they continue well into the future.

Thanks so much South Bay YMCA. We are fortunate to have you!!

Dave, Dulce and Matheo:)

The people who work here do not have neurodiverse training. I came here with my autistic son and he was having a small meltdown over waiting to get checked in. He made his way in the hall by the pool door and wouldn’t let me get him back to the front desk. So I filled out the waiver in the hallway by the pool entrance with him. I needed to go back to the front desk to ask if we were good to swim. So I left him there for a moment and in that moment a woman came out and let my son out into the pool area. I had to run down the hall and get him back inside. He sat down at the bench and waited. Then one of the workers asked the other if we were good to go because she saw what happened. But all of this could have been prevented if the workers here were neurodiverse trained. All it would have took was for one of the 4 people behind the desk to come out and assist me. There was one person doing all the customer service and others sitting or standing around. And no one cared that I was having trouble. Also, there are a lot of rules here with no proper direction. No one told me where the locker room was. We get out to the pool and someone tells me the pool my son is about to get in is closed and we have to swim in the other pool. We get in the other pool and the someone in there tells me this part of the pool is just for lessons. We finally make it to the right spot, but then there is a jacuzzi next to it. My son loves jacuzzi’s and gets in them to warm up, but the one here is 13 and up. So it was a struggle to keep him out of it and we ended up having to leave because he couldn’t be in it. It was a major struggle to swim at this place. And we won’t be back which sad because we own a house just a few blocks from here. This place needs neurodiverse training bad.

Alex at the front desk was really rude, I'm asking YMCA please stop bringing in teenagers or young people ,They don't know how to treat people, bring in seniors bring in adults who have some experience with customer service... Try to remember that everybody at the front desk is Supposed to be trained in customer service... I was hung up on right in the middle of a conversation because the little teenagers that answer your phone system thought it would be fun and the girl was laughing... I was asking about joining membership, I'm appalled that you guys allow this to happen, Please record every call so you know what's really happening, Please stop allowing young people to work at your facility, You don't know what they're doing because there are no managers at the counters watching what these little kids/teens/ with horrible attitudes are doing. Help.
