Stopped in here for a quick drink bite to eat thinking it was a basic dive bar (we do love dive bars). We had two awesome bartenders who can make some killer drinks, I had patron margarita and then she recommended their pineapple margarita, both were delicious! We ordered the big a$$ pretzel and have to say that was the best pretzel and bar cheese we’ve had and we order them often. Service was hands down the best we’ve had in a while, food was great and look forward to going back to try more, drinks awesome and not what you’d expect to get in a local bar on a small town!

The food was good, ordered pretzel for appetizers and it was very large big enough for 3 ppl. The cheese burger & fried were good.
You received the 3 stars because the restaurant was very cold & something was said the the waitress and she just crossed her arms & walked away saying yes it's cold!!

So the inside isn't much different from when it was Joe's place originally. I went here with 2 other people. The service wasn't bad in the beginning, they have alot of kinks to still work out. Like the wait staff knowing how to use the system. The food my friends liked they really did. One got the Mac & cheese and pulled pork. The other got pulled pork. I got the pulled pork as well. I wasn't huge on it, took the left others home and had my father try them. The smoke flavor is over welming the pork itself. Might be liquid smoker. The fries were my all time favorite this on the menu. The place itself is just like before but looks a bit bigger on the inside. It's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit. But now it does have me curious to try ita grand rapids location.

This was my first time here and, unfortunately, I had high expectations which went unmet.

First I had the ($8 on special) cheeseburger soup. It was... Interesting. It was extremely thick. Like, almost the consistency of mashed potatoes. It was only okay. It didn't thrill me, but there was a good portion. I definitely did not need to order anything to go with it; it could've been a complete meal.

Next I got a pollo asada taco ($4). The tortilla had been dipped in fryer oil. Not cooked, just dipped. Don't ask me why, but it was greasy and floppy and disgusting. Eventually I dumped out the contents and ate it with the chips which made it passable.

I was unable to find a menu anywhere online ahead of time, which would have been nice. The website doesn't work for the Saranac location, and I believe the menu changes fairly often.

They tried to freshen up an old bar but fell short; it needs more freshening. It's definitely better than it was, but it's still quite dated.

The live music was good but WAY too loud. We couldn't hear each other at our own table toward the front of the restaurant. We eventually left and went across the street for awhile so we could hold a conversation.

Overall, I'll probably go back, but I won't order those items again and I won't go for live music.

Nice staff, old bar but cool place. Tried chicken gizzards for the first time here and they were good, acquired taste but not many places serve them. I wouldn’t get the nachos again but would go back to try other menu items. Drinks were a little weak.

I've been a regular for some time. I may have rubbed the staff the wrong way, I'm not sure. They won't tell me, but they will let me sit st the bar and not be served for over a half an hour and then tell me they are closed. This is also a pattern, the night before I sat at the bar and ordered a drink. She stared and me, accepted it, and walked off. Three times she did this and never served me. I mean I can take a hint, but cmon. Terrible service.

As a note, it was Erin who may be an inexperienced bartender, but Sam is the assistant manager. What kind of children run this place?

Vell has always made amazing food.

My husband and I had lunch at the Social House in Saranac for the first time today since they opened. Excellent food! I ordered the smash burger with fries and they were Very good. Not sure how they season their fries but my husband and I agreed that those fries could get addictive. 😄 Would definitely recommend and will dine there again. Our Server was attentive and friendly. Small town bar / restaurant atmosphere.

We decided to dine in at Joe's Place on Friday night based on a recommendation of a coworker. And I read the reviews, the bad ones and the good ones, before we drove here. It took us almost an hour to get here from our home, but the long drive was worth it 👌🏻😁. Joe's Place is a small town restaurant located in Saranac, MI. And it is true when we opened the door and walked inside, all eyes (diners and servers) were on us 🤣, just for a moment. It felt like we were in the old country restaurant setting with country songs played.

Susan, our server, greeted us and offered to sit down anywhere we wanted. She's very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations of menu items. We ordered all-you-can-eat pollock fish dinner (comes with fries and coleslaw/cottage cheese) for the three of us, onion rings, cheese curds (this one Susan's recommendation since we love spicy food), and fried gizzards. We didn't wait too long when appetizers came first, then our dinner. OMG 😳!!! We love ❤️ all the food we ordered!!! We all got second basket came in for all-you-can-eat fish, then the cheese curds are fantastic, love the homemade spicy sauce. The gizzards are tasty too. The fish was not fishy at all 👍🏻. A small town restaurant with great food and service. And Susan even bagged our leftovers, which we didn't expect. Thank you so much 🙏🏻!!!

We will definitely come back in the future to try other menu items 🤗😊👋🏻
