I love going to the JCC for my respite program that I currently attend. The staff are amazing and helpful. The JCC has made my experience more independent and I am happy to have them part of my team and they help me become more independent. I loved Hope Fitness on Saturday program, Cooking, Zing, and so much more!

Great place for families and individuals for gym, pool, workout classes, and cultural activities. It has a very welcoming vibe and everyone is very friendly. Found out about this place through my neighbor. I never would’ve known about it otherwise. It is very hidden. It’s closer than my previous gym so much more convenient to get to. Wish the Friday hours were later but I understand since it’s a Jewish center. Great workout classes and instructors. Can’t wait to try more of them. Def would recommend.

I absolutely love the JCC! I have been going there ever since I was little and I especially enjoy their programs for people with special needs. Right now I go to their afternoon social club program in their 200 annex building for adults with special needs aged 21 and older. The staff there are awesome and extremely nice and they all love me there and consider me a part of their family!

+1: Good people. "Working in" is expected, and "reserving" equipment (with a towel) is not.

+1: Layout is extremely well planned, with no wasted space, but also no over-crowding.

+1: Good community. I've forgotten to lock my locker on a few occasions, but never had anything taken/disturbed. This is very much a community center, and you'll feel good vibes if you bring your own too.

The children's programs are excellent.

The kitchen is clean, and well stocked.

+1: Staff is friendly, experienced, and helpful. Facilities are very clean, and well maintained. If you're doing something dangerous (to yourself or others) you'll get corrective advice (free of charge), but you won't be bullied by power-tripping staff.

-1: The regular hours of operation is often incorrect on their Google maps profile, and getting to their hours on their site (via mobile) isn't so fun.

On several occasions I've witnessed others u-turning in the lot(along with myself), and have been advised to call ahead to double check that they'll be open (only useful if you aren't an early bird).

The JCC East Hills SummerStreeters camp is a very poorly managed/negligent camp. The counselors are inexperienced, but for the price they charge, you would expect better training and diligence from the director and camp management.
Kids are almost losing fingers while the counselors are in the room. Kids are bullied and when the director is informed, no action is taken. The parents are talked down to, for raising their concerns. I am not sure if race is a part of the issue but it seems quite evident.
Health protocols are not followed, even during covid. Counselors are not trained well enough to recognize children who are sick and they are left unattended all day and not even sent to the director to check if something is wrong.
Debra the director is not fit to run the camp. When asked about sickness spreading through the camp, she outwardly denied it is happening while children were getting sick. She yells at you like you are crazy for questioning her lies and does not follow-through. She will also blame the counselors when something happens even though she should be monitoring or staying on top of the situation. Children in the camp are not treated equally and even the children themselves can tell the difference.
Escalating to the JCC Senior Management is useless. They do not even care to respond.
The facilities itself is nice but I would stay away from the camp! It is a lawsuit waiting to happen! Children's safety is not the top priority, making money is. STAY AWAY if you care about your child's safety and well-being!

There is a previous review by a man named Dan below who said the JCC took money from people and then didn’t reimburse during the pandemic . I had the same experience . Swimming lessons for my special needs son were prepaid pre-pandemic . When the JCC opened up I reached out to his swim instructor to restart lessons only to be told that they were for members only . I asked to speak to the aquatics director but he told me the director would tell me the same thing so I told him to reach out when it opened back up to people who didn’t have membership. No one ever reached out and then when I asked about the lessons I was told they were “expired” . The JCC prevented me from using them because I wasn’t a member and then told me they expired !! I just want me kid to learn a life saving skill and as a single parent membership is beyond my means . For a place that holds so much charity outreach how about you take care of the vulnerable people in your community first who PAID for a service first ?
