I'm so grateful for the excellent work that these folks for the community. There are court charges, but the self-help center helps you prepare free of charge.
They will even help you to have your court charges waived if your are low income. Monday & Wednesday are walk-in days. Tuesday and Thursday are appointment only. On Monday & Weds, you can arrive at 7:45 am, come through the Superior Court door, through the metal detector and stand in line to have your questions answered and get an appointment later in the same day. You can get in the building and in line at 7:45am but the self help center doesn't open until 8:00 a.m.
The women who have worked with me here are super competent & patient. It is so easy to get frustrated when you're trying to deal with the type of issues that people come here for. All day long the staff must deal with people getting frustrated, being confused and misunderstanding (I did all these), and they stay very professional.

Not the nicest people especially the lady with the law BACKGROUND. I have gone there from time to time since 2021 and I was lucky to get help just getting copies of legal forms much less any questions answered about the forms. Any questions on how to fill them out correctly were answered with "I don't know your personal information " of course that was NOT WHAT I WAS ASKING!!! of course you don't know my personal information.The only thing they do is help you with some of the legal forms but any real help with FILLING THEM OUT CORRECTLY, is like you just asked them to walk a mile. I ended up researching online on how to fill my forms out and taking my chances at the county clerks office. The legal lady at the clearlake office could use classes on how to treat people with kindness and respect and a little bit of courtesy would be helpful. I will only go there for forms if I have to.

What a helpful place. Filling out paperwork for the court sucks and confusing. I couldn't have done it without their help. I wish I could buy them lunch or something to show how grateful I am.
