This organization was provided to me via ACCESS Inc Small Business Program. My experience began with the typical San Diego way of referrals. When I called SDVLP I spoke to Andrea M. and left a voicemail regarding assistance with non profit formation. I received a return voicemail message in reply, but once I called back I spoke to her and it sounded as if she was returning her calls from bed. The results were not unexpected, with no follow up. Two days later I call their main number 858-550-0871 for reception direction and response for possible appointment, and her attitude was just as unhelpful and uninformed with extreme unprofessional tone and poor call handling. She brashly advised me that Ms Andrea M. would get back to me when she was available. Sad.

This is a supposed ā€˜award winning and deemed excellent’ resource and referral agency given to general business owners and organizations for needed assistance and/or direction. I am extremely disappointed, most dissatisfied and gravely disturbed at how business services are supposedly provided to ā€˜support’ and help keep thriving businesses form in the City of San Diego through this agency.

If there are better referrals out there, I certainly hope it is not this one >> San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. Because they obviously do not value the building of businesses in San Diego or how to service them even on a volunteer level. Maybe their intentions are to deter customers because they simply ā€œprefer paid casesā€ and not Pro Bono as described in their mission and objective statement on their webpage.

Extremely discouraged customer

I had a conversation on Facebook with a lawyer from this organization. They didn't know how to look for all available evidence pertaining to the discussion. I pity any client who gets this lawyer for their case.

Why do you guys offer services but never answer phones… never answer back to voicemails. I literally have been trying to get in contact with someone for over two weeks now and submitted an application. I am already lost right now dealing with this and they aren’t making it easier by not answering phones.

New update: they reached back out to me a couple days before my hearing date don’t go through this company.

Absolutely unsatisfied with this program. I had apply three different times and leave countless voicemails just to get a response. Receptionist was very unprofessional kept talking over me.

Madison R Beck was extremely rude !!! I literally wish I can give zero stars like she was widely rude I was so shocked because initially before our appointment she preached supporting low income people and minorities. Once we had our consultation meeting, I got to begin to share my situation and she began cutting me off and seemed to be rushing me off the phone. she interrupted my explanation of my situation to repeatedly tell me there was nothing she can help me with. I asked multiple times if i can please get a chance to explain my situation and why I wanted help and I swear on my life I have never been talked over so badly. She began stating that the company I rented from and was having issues with, was ā€œin good standingā€ and she wouldn’t be able to help me. I tried explaining that I understood but that I felt like they ripped me off hundreds of dollars. She never stopped talking, just kept repeating that I couldn’t be helped and said I could look for advice on google. She then emailed me that she was closing my case. I literally waited 3 months for this appointment, from the time I reached out for help until my phone call, it’s been 3 months and all for nothing. The whole point was to get free advice and she basically told me to google it LOL. She was so rude I actually can’t stand that people like her are supposedly helping the helpless.

I wish I could give this organization 0 stars. I am in the middle of a domestic violence restraining order case, in which I did most of the leg work on. All I really needed from this organization was support at a court hearing on 12/7. I am low income with a 1.5 year old dependent. They claim to help low income families with these type of issues and I was advised to put in an application for assistance online, which I did. I was told over the phone that they would review my case, which will take up to 10 days, and let me know if they can assist me. I received a denial less than 24 hours after I submitted my application. I called the organization to ask them the reason behind the denial because it was not provided in the email and all they could tell me was that is was denied for "legal reasons" and they could not tell me why they denied my request for assistance. Very upsetting for a low income single mom who has already suffered enough due to being a victim of DV, and already dealing with the frustrating court system process to be flat out denied without any explanation whatsoever. This organization does not care about people who need real assistance.
