I'm hoping to save someone from making the mistake I did in believing this shelter is here to help. It is only there to take your story and teach you what you want to look for NOT HELP!!!!! I turned to them because I had no one to help me. No way of keeping my home! at the time this was my first time ever asking for help. They turned me away after I explained and begged I had no one. DO NOT THINK THEY WILL HELP YOU DO NOT TRUST THIS ORGANIZATION!!!!!!!!!!!

They’ve given me a lot of help over the years but In recent years it seems the staff are more rude and condescending. It seems like they don’t have enough resources to help people in these situations. I recommend getting help from Every Woman’s Place in Muskegon or Sylvia’s Place in Allegan.

I went to resilience to talk to their legal lady about a PPO and my divorce and I you know shared my story and and I told her a few things and she said well since he's in jail you can't put one out on them in you need to come back a month before he gets out and we'll go to the people then she never offered me classes she never offered me paperwork she never showed me the wheel that they talk about. So I call there a few weeks later and I speak to a lady and I tell her what happened and she said she'll look into it and call me back and she calls me back and says to me that the notes in the file say that she gave me paperwork she showed me the wheel and did something else and I was completely blown out of my mind because she didn't do any of those things that's why I called back to let somebody know that she didn't do any of those things I just basically said well I got to go cuz your worker is a liar and you might want to watch her and hung up because I can't even believe it it and I'm not going to sit there and argue with her because who are they going to believe some crazy lady on the phone or their worker I'm sad I'm disappointed I had hope to get some help I don't have anybody around I don't have anybody around here

I struggled with this rating and still do to this day. They kept me safe for a whole month, then kicked me out when they thought I no longer needed it, and had nowhere to go in an ice storm. Today, I've gained a bachelor's degree in behavioral health, with an emphasis on Trauma. I'm telling you this, because for my capstone, I chose to research this organization while coming up with my own organization for my final project. I basically did the opposite of what I remember being done for my project. I got 100 percent on my capstone and have been told by many people I'm "going places." Yet, this domestic violence shelter, instead of helping me, didn't even give me a fighting chance. A traumatized girl that needed safety, direction, and some compassion in general. Big fail guys. Big fail.

I will never stop recommending this place. They provide services for both women in need, as well as men.

The compassion and kindness given to me while walking through an abuse situation with someone else. It is so hard to get help as a victim, so much gaslighting and victim blaming by LEO before we were helped so graciously by people at Resilience.
