Pastor Steve, preaching straight out of The Holy Bible, takes beginners to accomplished parishioners thru God's Word! We've been blessed by our Church family. Please join us and be blessed too.

Love this ministry. They do expository teaching of the Word of God verse by verse & chapter by chapter. Pastor Steve teaches with humility and stands firm with contending for the faith along with not compromising the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to the Holy Scriptures. (1st Corinthians 15:1-11, John 3:16-17, Romans 10:8-13, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, 1st Timothy 2;5)

I'm hoping that this review even remotely encompasses what a blessing Refuge Church has been not only to my family, but extended family. Steve is a Bible teacher, going verse by verse and book by book. The amount of knowledge he has and the way I've seen the Lord bless and use him to reach the congregation and community is just mind blowing and a blessing. He is an example of the type of evangelist I hope and pray to try to be.

I grew up in a small community in the valley and attended church weekly. Things as simple as truly understanding the gospel message were hard for me. Steve makes it a point of necessity to reiterate the gospel within every sermon, and I'm so thankful for this! I now have grown in confidence and assurance of what it means to have salvation in Christ Jesus and the magnitude of His mercy, grace and long-suffering love to me. My knowledge and understanding of the Bible grows more and more daily, and a big part of that is being taught truth from the pulpit and knowing the importance to dig into God's Word daily on my own.

We all fall short of the glory of God. Not one being on this planet is without sin. When you think you are above God's standard, you will fight back and attack those who don't embrace you living outside of Christ and choosing to be a slave to your own sin. There is a massive difference between living in sin and making yourself your own god, or living at the foot of the cross and dying to yourself daily and fleeing from idols and hating sin in your own life. We all need a Savior and only Jesus Christ can give you Salvation through true repentance and surrender to Him. If you want to be told that you can live embracing a sinful life and still make it to heaven, then this would NOT be the church for you. Steve will not waiver to please your ears as he knows the end result of lying to his congregation would lead souls to hell.

Steve does not say he is perfect and is very open and sincere to where he has come from, and I'm always so thankful for his transparency and love for others to help us all grow! I'm so thankful for the fellowship and people the Lord has placed in this congregation as well. There is a genuine thirst to learn more and to grow closer to the Lord and desire to encourage and be there for one another. This church has become my family.

To say this church has been a pivotal part in my life, is the understatement of my lifetime. My kids are being taught truth directly from the Bible and I see them growing in their own faith which is all I could ever want and hope for.

God bless you, Steve, and thank you for aiding in my walk by allowing to Lord to lead you! I will forever be grateful!!

I don't leave reviews, but I feel compelled to counter my sister's take on the pastor. My father's funeral was attended by my whole (large) family. In the planning, we told Pastor Steve that, above all, my father would want the gospel clearly put out. The gospel is comforting in that it explains how we have the hope of seeing our father again if we repent of our wrongs and accept God's gift of eternal life with him.
If you have rejected God's gift of salvation, as my sister and her wife openly have, the Gospel is not comforting. If you are being personally convicted by the Holy Spirit, the gospel is downright uncomfortable. In my view it is not loving to make someone more comfortable on their way to eternity in hell.
My sister is correct in saying if you want to avoid being convicted by the Holy Spirit of your need for God, you should avoid this church.
Talking with my siblings (there are 7 of us), the rest of us appreciated Steve and his wife Shannon, and their care for our family and especially our mother.

My Grandpa Hurst recently went to heaven and Pastor Steve did his memorial service. Grandpa loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know how to get to heaven. I am thankful that Pastor Steve shared the truth of God’s Word with everyone who loved Grandpa. If you want to save a drowning person, you throw them a rescue device. Pastor Steve shared the Gospel and that is even better! Grandpa, I WILL see you again someday!

I grew up in this church as a kid and praise God that I can say it’s still my church today. Refuge has quickly become the exception, as many churches today have fallen away from the word of God and are more interested in filling seats by tickling ears rather than proclaiming the truth and saving souls. You can expect to hear the gospel preached in every sermon and outreach, a great children’s ministry and youth group, an eclectic mix of people of all ages, and a pastor who preaches the word verse by verse passionately. I praise God for my Refuge Church family.
