I recently adopted a dog from them. I found the staff to be very caring and thoughtful in their approach to adoption. They definitely were concerned about the well being of the dog. All of the paperwork was in good order and the medical issues were well explained.

Nice shelter, lots of dogs and cats. At our visit there were many hound and hound mixes. Some kennels are outside. They have outdoor play areas as well. Kind people, the animals obviously love the workers, and there are not really any bureaucratic hoops to jump through, just a straightforward application.

Preston County Animal Shelter staff do an amazing job with the animals in their care. God Bless each and every staff member there because their work is often thankless.

Whatever desperate situation you find yourself in, do not surrender a dog here. Go to another county. PCAS are putting perfectly adoptable dogs down without even trying to find them homes first. They are no friends to animals.

These people are wacky. They said we couldn't get a dog because we were too old to be getting our first dog (I'm 37 years old) and kept harping on the fact that I had "wild allergies" (I put "mild allergies" on the application). If they didn't want to give us a dog, they should have just said that and not made up crazy things like we're too old. Will never recommend to anyone.

Visited the shelter on Saturday and found my new best friend! Everyone on the staff was very welcoming, and helpful! Adoption process was easy and fairly priced including vetting and neutering. I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for a new buddy.
