I went to an urgent care after experiencing intense chest pain. This was not the first incident, but the most prevalent so I decided to seek treatment. My 10 second EKG, done by a Nurse on her very first day at this office using their equipment, came back normal. My heart rate was normal. I was obviously non-symptomatic 2 hours after the incident. Dr. Vo instantly dismissed the chest pain as a panic attack. I have no history of panic attacks, no history of anxiety, no history of any mental disorders whatsoever. I was not hyperventilating in any way, my breathing was normal. Chest pain was my one and only symptom. I was not in an emotional state when this occurred. I was honestly offended that I was so easily dismissed by Dr. Vo as this having been caused by some supposedly invisible emotional distress. I wonder if he would have told a MALE patient the same. He had no history of any type of blood work, cholesterol tests, or labs that he used to make this โ€œdiagnosisโ€ as this was my first time to Kaiser and I have not been in for a general checkup in a few years. He only suggested labs after I pushed back on the idea that this was any sort of panic attack. I am not an anxious person, I have a high pain tolerance, and therefore rarely seek medical care. His complete dismissal of my physical symptoms was a reminder of why I do not.
