This temple-style Greek Revival structure once stood as Van Buren County's first courthouse. Built in 1842, the Paw Paw Village Hall was located where the present-day courthouse remains today. In 1903, it was moved here as they began construction on the much grander neoclassical courthouse. And the 1842 courthouse went through many different functionalities through the years. A feed store, a youth center during the Great Depression, it now serves as the Paw Paw Village Hall. It once had a classical cupola on it's roof, which was removed in stages, and is now totally absent. The building is sure to stand out walking down main street. It's front facade features a six-columned portico, that not only supports the roof, but also adds to the building's impressive design and looks as if it comes straight out of an Indiana Jones movie!
