My Dad was here briefly here 9 years ago. The local hospital referred him with little time to consider another place.

My Hope is that the management has made positive changes since then.

In 2015:
1. The place smelled like urine.
2. There was a strong sales effort to get my Dad to be a permanent resident. ( I don't recommend giving ANY facility permission to directly draw from your loved ones social security!)
I am thankful that I was able to find a better place for my Dad.
The staff cooperated with the transferring of my Dad to another facility.

Cottage crest was awesome! The staff is very friendly and the facility is very clean! Staff are easy to communicate and are helpful to the resident as well as family members.

I have had many experiences with skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in the past, including ones my loved ones have been in. I have to say that this one is a true Gem! Not only are the nurses and Rehab team excellent they are caring and compassionate this goes to say about their administrative team as well. I’d highly recommend this place.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone to place their loved one here. Staff is inconsiderate with patients, they don’t care . There’s no motivational efforts on there behalf for patient to feel or show progress in their well-being. No additional extras are done for patient to fell supported by staff. Family is not notified of any changes made . Very disappointed with the staff members of this facility Phoebe, Nicole , Eva. The facility’s recording prompt indicates this is a qualitative caring facility .. it is not !!
Especially on weekends staff is incompetent and lazy to assist the elderly. Staff lacks professionalism , they also need attitude adjustment when speaking to family members. Will be moving forward to contact corporate office and filing complaint with BBB.
Even doctors suggest that we file complaint because they’ve also seen that staff does not care for their patients, doctors see their work ethic is unacceptable and unprofessional. Staff still receives their paycheck regardless of how they perform their job duties.
If your family member is here at this Norwalk facility please be sure to check in with them at least two or three times a day to ensure they are being taken care of and are meeting their needs.

My husband died 2 weeks after coming here. He literally starved to death. The lack of compassion that Rubina shows, is horrible! I have never met someone that lacks such emotion, in my life. My husband is deceased because of this facility, and now his 5 boys no longer have a father. Don't ever send your loved one here.

I just removed my father from this so called rehabilitation center. He was transferred here by the hospital where he went through surgery 7 days ago. My father had a tumor in the tail of his pancreas, his gallbladder and spleen removed. The five days he was in the hospital, the surgeon had him on a liquid/soup diet. Today, when I arrived to see him at this place, they were already feeding him pasta with Alfredo sauce and shrimp and a piece of white bread. It was delicious, don't get me wrong, BUT my father just went through major surgery. He is a diabetic, has hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia. Who on earth would take a patient's diet from a liquid straight to a regular diet? Then, why would they feed him everything he isn't supposed to be eating? I was very upset to see this so I decided to go ask the Charge Nurse who they had listed as his doctor. He gave me some weird name that I had never heard. I told him my father has his primary physician, why would they change doctors on him? He said that because while he was staying there, that was the doctor he was assigned. I realized then that no matter if the facility was right or wrong, if they have their "special" doctors, then it is for sure that those doctors are going to back up any decision the facility makes even if they are wrong. That was when I asked to speak to the Director of Nursing (DON). It was pointless as he insisted that while my father was staying there, the facility was going to assign the doctor who will be treating him. My father was placed in this facility because his oxygen saturation was not within normal range, and he needed to be on oxygen. When I arrived, he was not on oxygen. He told me that he had been walking around the facility throughout the day without oxygen. When I arrived, I took his vital signs (I am a Licensed Nurse) and everything was within normal ranges so I decided to take him home. I love my father and I would not let him stay in a place where he is supposed to be "rehabilitated," but instead, they are feeding him everything he is not supposed to be eating. I have worked very hard to bring down his weight within a healthy BMI, got him off his medications for diabetes (including insulin), cholesterol, and hypertension. I will not let anyone's lack of knowledge in nutrition mess it all up. This facility does not care about their patient's well being. All they care about is the money they get paid to have the patients stay there as long as possible.

If I could rate this place zero stars I would! I work as a care giver and they sent over a patient with their laundry bag filled with vomit, a serious diaper rash, and no proper medicinal care at all.
