they need to work on their ethic. I asked them if I could apply for a food box. I filled out the paperwork and handed it to him. He saw that I was homeless and asked how would I prepare our meals if we're homeless. I told him my husband and I were staying at Prays motel awaiting housing to come through. He the asked me who pays for it. I told him I had funding through chcs in bangor. he replies so the tax payers pay ur rent. He asked if we were on welfare I said we get foodstamps and he said because he doesn't like to work with people on wellfare, because we already get enough help.. He proceeded to down grade me and arrogantly asked me if I even knew that they paid for the goods out of pocket cuz they don't get funding like other pantries. I just stand there in awe holding tears back, trying to make sense of what he just said to me so I just told him to have a nice day and I turned to walk away, humiliated. infront of all of his volunteers. I got out the door and he said well I has gonna give u some food, you'll just have to be another taxpayers problem. holding my tears back, still trying to figure out what I had done for him to be so rude and heartless to me, I told him to keep his food and to have a nice day. Keep in mind that when I first walked in, I told them I had been there once before, but it was like 4 or 5 years ago. another fun fact.. there's a testimonial on their Facebook page that says don't be ashamed to see if u qualify for a box. seriously don't be ashamed? if that's the truth, u guys are doing it all wrong. nobody told me I would have to be degraded and belittled when trying to get help with food. Don't feel ashamed for applying then why didu make me feel ashamed when I did.
