I am a 22 year old. Never been homeless until recently. My friend recommended I try this place out. I called ahead and asked them if there were any beds available and they told me they don't disclose that over the phone. I went from Bakersfield to Fresno thinking I would be safe that night. Ingot there and it seemed like a nice place. The lady (she's Filipino) did a while intake process and then proceeded to tell me oh we don't have any beds available so you're gonna have to go to the streets and come back tomorrow. Thankfully a friend helped me get into a motel that night and I found another 90 day shelter in Hanford. But I do not recommend this place at all. Very rude and not sympathetic at all.

I thought this was a drug and alcohol free place. How are ppl getting these things in there and allowed to stay. SMH! How are others supposed to feel safe, when there are ppl staying there in active addiction. Needles, drugs. Wth

I've been placed almost right away every time I've been there. This being the 3rd time, they are very accommodating and understanding.

I am a longstanding supporter of Naomi's House and the critical services they provide to women in need of ER shelter, wraparound services, and the emotional support necessary to move towards restoration. Please tell the Fresno County Board of Supervisors to continue financial support for this essential safety net in the Chinatown/Ventura community.

The house staff is really great and helpful. They don't judge anyone and try to make sure every woman gets a bed. The case managers will help whoever needs help as long as you keep up with what they ask. And be very honest so they can get you the proper help

Naomi's House needs to be thoroughly investigated. The women here are not treated equally. Psychotic individuals are allowed to threaten, accost, and antagonize, certain favoritism is shown to select clients, and client grievances go unheard. In terms of housing match process being practiced, there is zero transparency. The caseworkers withhold vital information pertaining to the availability of emergency housing vouchers, procrastinate the processing of documentation submitted to determine housing match options, and blatantly lie to cover up their wrongdoings. Whoever is contributing to the funding for this shelter needs to execute an intricate and spontaneous scrutinization of what occurs within the confines of this organization. We as those who have been displaced are being exploited severely just to bring money. We are told they they have no supplies, while they have an entire storage facility stocked with them. People who are clearly physically unwell and/or people who are mentally incapable of functioning in this co-habitating environment are allowed to defecate the bathrooms, shower stalls, and even the beds where they sleep among the general population of the clients. There is overt inconsistency with staff and enforcement of policies and rules differ for each person. When grievances ar filed, there is no showcase of confidentiality as other clients are made privy to complaints submitted and thereby they speak of them among each other. Safety is a huge concern. We are made to wait outside of the gate for upwards of 15 minutes at times--day or night-- just to be granted entry back into the shelter with no regard for our physical safety and lurking men approach us as we await in vulnerable positions, especially in the dark, and they say they security is making its rounds. We are clearly NOT priority. When any health hazard is reported, like vomit/feces/urine expelled by a client in the sleeping areas where we all must reside, we are told, "You are in a shelter," as is we are being enlightened. The food served at the Poverello House, adjacent to this shelter and working collaboratively with Naomi's House, served horridly spoiled food which frequently makes several clients sick. Naomi's House only serves a snack and no dinner; they don't allow us to have hot foods. Staff and management are never held accountable for their shortcomings and the air of dismissive apathy is given off by them on a typical day.
