My mother was released to Manor Care on January 19th. She passed away on January 25. My mother had a spine infection that required IV antibiotics. I had scheduled for her to come home on the twenty-sixth of January. My mother had other health issues like COPD from secondhand smoke. She was on dialysis for kidney failure. She was diabetic, but because of the dialysis, her diabetes was under control. She also had heart issues that were under control according to her heart doctor; she didn't need to be seen for another year as the heart doctor had seen her less than a month before she was admitted to Manor Care.

I went to fill out the paperwork the next day. In the paperwork, I stated and made sure it was noted that my mom was not to have any kind of narcotic medication. The only medication she was okay to receive was what was prescribed, nothing else - no morphine, no codeine. I had full medical power of attorney over her. I received a call from her dialysis center that she did not show up on Monday the 24th. When I called, they said they would have someone call me back, but no one did. On January 25th, I received a call from my mother's nurse around 6 p.m. stating that my mother went into distress, they performed CPR, got her to breathe, but sadly couldn't bring her back. I inquired why, as she was on oxygen. I asked about medications being given, and they mentioned morphine although my mom was allergic to codeine. I clearly stated in my notes and paperwork that my mother was not to have any narcotics besides Dilaudid. I informed them that I was out of town but heading back.

The nurse urged me to hurry before the coroners arrived. When I got there, we were greeted and led to her room, where we were provided chairs. After this, they didn't come talk to me or provide any updates. When I went to find her nurse, they said she was out on lunch. We left after 40 minutes, but before leaving, I requested for her nurse to contact me. After an hour, I called Manor Care, and the nurse was busy. I was then told to contact a mortuary to pick her up. It took a while, but I arranged for her pickup. Over a month and a half, I kept calling to no avail.

Finally, a package arrived in the mail regarding lawsuits and addressed to my mother. When we received her Death Certificate, the physician had the audacity to state that my mother died due to complications of diabetes and heart failure and labeled her a noncompliant patient. I found it baffling how the doctor could draw these conclusions after knowing my mother for less than six days.

ALSO YOU CANT SPEAK TO A CHARGE NURSE OR SUPERVISOR. VERY BAD FACILITY , NOT AT ALL WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE , THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO HELP GET MY MOMS BELONGINS BACK AT ALL , THEY ALSO NEVER BOTHERED TO CALL TO SAY SHE FELL ON THE FLOOR THE ROOMATES TOLD ME ..
JUST SHUT IT DOWN NOW, BECAUSE IF MY MOM WAS GETTIN TREATED THAT WAY IN 30 DAYS TIME I FEEL SORRY FOR THE OTHER ELDERLY PEOPLE IN THIS FACILITY.

Physical therapy here is wonderful - the therapist are knowledgeable and help push the patients. The rest of the staff is horrible. No one knows what is going on. I couldn't get answers for basic questions - how do we order what we want for meals I would get a blank stare. Quick tempered, non-caring assistants... nurses only do meds... my dad was left in a dirty diaper for 3 hours one night - the person that came to answer his light said "I have no time for this, I have to go to lunch" and left. 3 hours in a dirty depends. People go there for rehab - meaning they usually can't do for themselves...at the mercy of the staff which is unattentive and often rude. Go elsewhere.

My dearest friend is here now at this place, I noticed on our first visit when we asked for her room number the staff was lost. The staff was clueless of her being registered here. I have Power of Attorney and will have her moved out if I don't see acceptable service at this place. I'm getting very motivated reading these reviews.

The staff have been so wonderful here from Christina to Julie and everyone in between you have been a real godsend during this challenging time. We appreciate you keeping my Mom comfortable during her post op recovery. Keep up the great work!

The past few months there’s been a tremendous change for the better.
Nurses are attentive and courteous to their patients. Even going as far as checking in on them almost every hour. The facility looks and smells clean.
Good job in cleaning up your facility.

I've waited a few weeks to write this review. I wanted time to process the care my mom received here. My thoughts haven't changed. I wish I could give zero or negative stars. It was awful. PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR FAMILY MEMBER BE PLACED HERE! I'll start with the positive. It was clean. Once you were able to get through to someone the nurses/caregivers were nice enough. The negatives - pretty much everything else. The food, the lack of communication, the lack of promised therapy etc. The biggest problem comes from the administration. They don't care, don't return calls and tell you lies. I was told the two week isolation and the God awful visiting policy were a result of COVID. It may have been at one point but I called 3 other facilities in a 5 mile radius and NONE of them had the same policy , they did at one point but the restrictions had been lifted. At Manor Care only 28 residents out of 117 were able to have a visitor. It took a severe toll on my mom's mental health. As a recent stroke victim, depression was already an issue. This place made it worse. I was yelled at when I suggested it wasn't a COVID policy any longer but a corporation policy. I left several messages for the case worker to call me - they never did. (My dad thinks her name was Monica but not sure). The "best" part? Manor Care decided that my mom would not improve any further (after 3 weeks - two of them in isolation) they told my Dad he had 3 days to get her out. This was on a Thursday afternoon. She had to be out by Sunday. If she wasn't - they were going to charge $750 per day. The following week, my father called to tell them that he wasn't satisfied with the treatment my mom received there. They told him she was "difficult". Probably, after all she just had a stroke and the isolation took a toll. Isn't that the service they offer? Hopefully you have a choice where to put your relative, if you do, PLEASE do your research and choose somewhere else.

This place is no place for your love
one's . The place is under staff, and my dad was there and basically they take shower 2 days of the week. The patients only get check on every 2 hours. There are some nurses who are nice. The adminstor shouldn't run that place shes very unprofessional and do not give accurate information. I'm suprise people would even consider there love one's there.
