This place is a house of Horrors literally speaking, water bugs everywhere in the kitchen. Staff members are overworked and underpaid, bosses are condescending, manipulative and gaslight workers, ( especially the new asst. program director) he is highly unprofessional and jokes about everything. Its a toxic work environment, staff members and clients need an attitude adjustment. Nothing positive or uplifting about being apart of this detrimental institution. DHS needs to shut it down, food is horrible. As a client, this is beyond atrocious, there isnt enough bathroom stalls and showers. Maintenance constantly runs out of supplies. People need to be thoroughly trained properly. They micromanage the workers but not how they speak or act towards them. Its truly disgusting being here in every way.

It was my home for 5 months during 2022. Those women were like family. It might of been a real dump but I was able to learn about other people and there mental issues. I mean the reality of the situation is that CAMBA got me into supportive housing back in 2004 through Park Slope. If you can handle living in a room with 8 other people some of which don't shower or take there medication. Or overdose in the bathroom or outside in front of the store across the street. If you can handle the fighting over pettiness. The excessive drinking on the benches in the courtyard. Or fighting over empty bottles stacked up outside. Or the lack of respect women have for others as well as themselves. CAMBA got me my 2010E this time but I have been waiting for the last 5 months for an interview for housing which I find very uncomfortable. I can't say bad things about the agency I can say it is a 50/50 thing all together. If you give love you get it returned.

Been here since April my honest opinion u have to be a very special person to work here and have the patience of a saint because the clients act as if they were gizmos offspring. Be weary of the court yard for there lurks the un dead. Along with the ones who exist in the building. You cant make this ish up. Magnolia house is the only place on earth where dinner time is a "walker wheelchair cane situation". Its the only place where you can go to the bathroom at 3am and it smells of bleach. Oh on a side note if you put in time here know there is a possibility that other places wont honor your paperwork from here like they say there is no place like home PBJ and push button showers

Great location in a beautiful neighborhood however Not accessible for all humans, like the aging population and handicapped. Not enough staff to handle resident and client needs. Everyone gets treated like children in nyc worst public school and juvenile detention centers. 40 chairs but they say they have 200 individuals to feed daily 3 times a day, with one cafeteria that only holds 96 individuals including staff

The worst homeless shelter on Earth. It is not safe/nor is it sanitary. The conditions and how the residents are treated here are God-awful. You have all types of residents coming in, some are {chronically} mentally ill; and substance abuse women who make life difficult for those who are not so.
There is no real "health care" here, which is the biggest lie stated on these reviews. The restrooms and in general are generally unsanitary -- daily and disgusting. There is "no help" for the hopelessly mentally ill who come in here, and no equipped medical staff at all in this place to manage "them," and a person might rather feel safer to sleep on the "streets" -- for some of the violence that takes place in this place.
The worst is the maltreatment of residents who come in. Hardly any are really concerned to really assist with housing; and overall -- this is a nightmare to be. Very little "protection" of the "lives" that come into this place.
It is one nightmare experience.
The worst part is that this Shelter and CAMBA are more concerned with "how things look"-- to their constuents who preside over this program, than the actual well-being of any "client."
The clients are the last] considered in this place-- and well, they are all treated as if some 'retard' or "second class citizen" -- when they come here.

This place is so very unsanitary, they have poor ventilation and too many people per room. Some Bath rooms are often closed all day to help cut down on the need to clean them before shift change. The food is not fit for adult women. The sewer often floods the basement where the dinning room is and the staff were the one who had to clean it up.

These people are scammers and frauds. Think twice before you work with them and decide to find tenants funded by the city. They have wasted 6 months, processing applications of two tenants and now they have gone hiding and can't be reached. Fraudulent business practices, be extremely cautious.

Disgusting, dirty, disappointing & immoral. The workers at this location do NOT care about the well-being of these women. Also, the system here is corrupt; you can go in this shelter, wait for 3 months and not get housing or placement but if you turn the other way you see women who come in and within a DAY or so get placement. They use your Social & info and keep you around like a dog waiting for a bone.
