We adopted our dog, Landon, from Madera County Animal Shelter just last week, and the whole experience was incredible from start to finish. Even though we live two hours away, the drive was 100% worth it. We instantly fell in love with Landon when we met him, but since he still needed to be neutered, we couldn’t take him home that day.

That’s when Dallas, one of the shelter employees, stepped in and truly went above and beyond. She volunteered to drive him halfway to us—an hour out of her way—just to make it easier for us to bring our new family member home. She wouldn’t accept a single cent for gas or her time. Absolute angel is the only way to describe her. 💛

You can tell how much she and the staff care about the animals in their care and the people adopting them. The shelter itself is doing such important work, and we’re so grateful to them for helping us find our new best friend. If you're thinking about adopting, this is a place full of heart. Thank you again, especially to Dallas—you made this experience unforgettable.

Went to an event to get my kittens their shots and microchipped. They were very nice with my kittens. My bad girl kitten actually hissed at the worker when picked up! She never hissed at anyone before! I’m so sorry.

Everyone was friendly. They answered my questions and provided me with additional resources to help with my dog issue. The next day, they followed up with a phone call as promised.

July of last year I adopted a 5 month old golden puppy named sunshine when I found him on a site for puppy's needing adoption. So we go to the shelter and meat this pup and he was so excited he peed himself lol. We sign the paperwork and leash him up and brought him home. Now hes a year and a month old and doing great! Everyone I spoke with at this shelter was delightful and extremely helpful. I've never rescued a dog before and the staff here made the decision so easy for me. They sent photos and videos because I don't live locally. 10/10 would recommend, they have some truly beautiful dogs ready to be adopted and their website is updated daily.
