Usually this place is clean and tidy. Don't know what the hell happened but somebody had a fit and trashed the men's bathroom. The photos are from when you first walk in as of 01/16/2025 5:34PM MDT

great grassy area with a sidewalk trail. sign at the far end stating to not allow pets on the grass... but since we started at the opposite end we didn't see that until we had completed the trail with our dogs. strange prohibition - must be a lot of people do not clean up after their dogs.
There is a potable water spigot near the monument. There is no overnight parking so keep going north to Mule Junction if you need an overnight stop.

I am a truck driver and usually spend one night a week here at this rest area. It’s one of the nicest ones in Wyoming that I have been to. It’s easy to get in and out and the landscaping is beautiful. The facilities are always clean and just a nice all-around place to stop and stretch your legs and not have to worry about it if it is clean or not.

What a peculiar thing that they don’t permit overnight parking. I get it’s a Wyoming thing. Either way, slept for a couple hours. No one bothered us.

This is a nice rest area with play ground, pic nic tables, pet run, and trail; however, the restrooms were not well maintained during my visit. Their was no soap in the single soap dispenser in the women's service and there was toilet paper all over the floors. I

Simple, clean, not too extravagant. A couple of vending machines and covered picnic areas. Has a nice playground for the kiddos, too.

This Rest Area in Lusk has the distinction of being the first rest stop with covered tables and indoor restrooms in Wyoming.
Due First Lady Lady Bird Johnson's national effort to beautify highways the Highway Beautification Act of 1965 was passed through Congress and this rest stop at Lusk was the first one built.

We found it very pleasant, with safe parking, clean indoor flushing restroom facilities, hot and cold running water, covered clean picnic tables with grills, an exercise area for animals, and a play area for children.
We highly recommend it
