My son was a resident of Lufkin State School, later Lufkin State Supported Living Center, for 47 years. Over the years the performance of the professionals at this center just got better and better. My son learned a skill and was absolutely proud of his work as a janitor and we were proud of the work ethic he developed at the center. Employees in the Workshop helped him to be meaningfully occupied. He participated in Special Olympics for many years. Although we lived more than 200 miles away, he came home for visits 8-10 times per year. He enjoyed his home visits, but he was always ready to return to the center. He had his own life there, with his own friends, his own job, his own activities. He got to travel with field trips often -- and he loved to travel. In 2017 he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The team at Lufkin State Supported Living Center absolutely pulled out all the stops. My son and our family were cared for by such a gentle and caring team. The Lufkin SSLC team was with him 24/7 keeping him comfortable and secure. Thank you Gail Wasson and team for your love and support.

Was some what ok with this place till I get the call yesterday about my son being abused by a staff member!!!! Well they messed with the wrong momma ! Social worker said he was seen by a nurse and other markings were found other than what was reported! Why was my son not seen by a doc !! NEVER MESS WITH MY KIDS NOW ITS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR THIS PLACE I PROMISE ! IM MAKING ALL MY CALLS !
