Excellent college. There are many good professors who are ready to help you achieve your goals. I have found many friends here. I recommend those who are looking for a place to study to consider this college. Unfortunately, there are some tyrant professors, most likely like in other colleges, whose subject is the only one and you have no alternatives. They can go too far, it's good that there is an opportunity to quit the class before it's too late.

I’m trying to transfer and thought I could come view the campus and use the library to sign up for classes but they only allow It to Enrolled students. Student services was closed the 3x time I went yeah…. I don’t want to attend a college that’s make it hard for people to even get enrolled.

Im a student here love all my teachers they are all amazing . Just wish more money was invested in the school .

Student veteran here and I enrolled in two courses in winter with a major in cyber security. Upon attending the first-day political science course I noticed that the instructor was selling their mandatory book for the course. I googled the instructor and found out they had zero real-world experience and went to teach at LACC straight out of college. I immediately dropped all my courses and stopped attending LACC.

I did more research and found that their vet center was mostly staffed with student workers and no certifying official. Funds had been diverted to LGBTQ services instead and even after the president of the school was notified he did nothing and ignored the complaints. It was only after a member of the LACC board got involved that the problem was addressed.

After speaking with three employees at the Vet Center and one student worker over the phone I got a better picture of what it was like LACC. The school's enrollment is down even after covid and the standards are being lowered to get more students to pass. There is a push for more LGBTQ and minority services so that school can apply for more grants. In reality, most of the grant money is being used to pay employees and/or create more programs so it looks like they are making a difference. This policy is being applied across LACC.

In short, parts of the school are a scam and it's losing steam. One employee said, "The school has no idea how to fix the problem with enrollment". Buddy, I think that's the least of their problems.

Side note: lets see how long this review stays up before google shadow-bans it. I have posted this review on yelp as well.

As a community member living adjacent, it's a pretty closed campus. Library for students only. They recently posted no trespassing signs on their track and tennis courts. Their community extension programs are a little pricey and from a sporting program standpoint, offer lessons only, with no "open track/lap pool/gym/tennis" times you can sign up for. Part of this closed off feel is presumably due to the rough surrounding neighborhood. They had a stabbing murder in their parking garage last year that didn't get a lot of publicity. Sad to see as a community member in what feels like a dystopian city at times.

Its really hard to reach a counselor online in this college. They have express counseling lobby. However, it always says there is no active moderators in this lobby. Also, the student self scheduling is disabled. It says reach out to a group member, but it does not give you any links to explain what it means as well if you want to make an appointment online it always gives you with any counselor the information that there are currently no dates available to book an appointment as well for next week there is none. Also, if you call the counseling office. They cannot give you any appointments on the phone neither answer questions. The moment it works online the counselors are always in a hurry to live the chat again. Also, everybody from the staff is offline aways as well admission office and Financial aid office. However, before corona everybody was online and the school system worked better to reach anybody. ll give it a 3 star college, since you still can take classes though, but you still have to find your own way to graduate lol.

Pros: It's pretty much free and you can get financial aid if you qualify for it. There are a few really great teachers, too. Cons: If you're a working adult, there will be little sympathy or understanding for what your life is like from the administration, school workers, and some of the teachers. LACC, some of your students already have careers and we cannot and SHOULD NOT sacrifice them to take community college classes. The counselors and workers here give bad advice, IF you can get a hold of them. It's very difficult to get in contact with the various offices at LACC, as they don't have normal business hours or use phones or emails. Basically, none of their offices function like a normal office. I've had the best results here when I do whatever I want and don't listen to any advice given to me - they always steer me wrong! You can wait months for the chance to book a counseling appointment, and by then you are already halfway through a semester taking the wrong classes. One of the worst things about LACC is their dysfunctional website. IMO, the counselors are pretty much obsolete. We should be able to see the classes we are required to take somewhere and sign up for them at our own leisure more easily. The website should be brought up to speed and into the 2020s. Also, the campus has bad vibes, straight up. I recommend taking classes online, not on campus
