I found out about the bus that comes to Bixby Park on Sundays through a friend about 3 months ago and we were so grateful, all the items helped us get through the week so much but about 3 weeks ago something changed, the workers started acting like we should be ashamed to be getting things from them, we live in our van so I would go through the fresh food line and get only enough for me and my husband for one night ( I never asked for alot) then go to the back of the bus to get a ready to eat bag and sometimes hygiene bag. The last time we were there we were told we could only have one or the other, and that me and my husband could only get enough food for one person not two. We have lived in Long Beach for over a year and have never been treated this way (I was really shocked) several people we know that go to the bus said it’s because we’re not originally from here because on the same day they got the same thing we were asking for, we apologize we didn’t know it was only for locals, had we had known we would not embarrassed ourselves. They should probably make the rules a little clearer

Kristen got upset about the fact I wouldn't send my in home worker to pick up food that has been being delivered as I'm disabled..that was the deal, from day one, she started to demand and insist I send my IN HOME CARE PROVIDER,,, to pick up my food?
We never agreed to that now can I send him I need him at home...
She then started sending spoiled food .
Repeated again that I should send my worker...then threatened to remove my food deliveriesntirely?
Who does that threatens a 60 year old disabled person with food delivery? Well she did just that made it impossible and now i stuggel financially to eat ? Ten kinda of wrong.
She admits the volunteers get first pick of the donated food .. how is that serving the elderly disabled in long beach? She's a piece of work!

I found out about this place by volunteering with some of my close friends though Kiwanis Key Club. As a volunteer, I would have to say I enjoyed my experience helping to create food bags for people to take and making sure I gave them a variety of nutritious food options to ensure they can make many great meals. I liked how this food bank was accommodative towards many different types of diets, such as low cholesterol, diabetic friendly, low sodium, and vegetarian and vegan food bag options. This ensures that people don't have to worry about receiving foods that are not suited to them. The quality of the vegetables was however, questionable. They seemed to be pretty old and on the verge of rotting, but I struggled through and found the freshest looking ones. Its a small space but with me and my friends who volunteered, as well as the other workers of the area, they are able to make many food packages in a day. I recommend this food pantry if you have specific dietary needs.

I have been to quite a few food pantries and this one is easily the best by far. I could list all of the reasons but theres no need to because we all have the same needs and wants from a food pantry and as i said, this place is the best in everyway. So far . If i encounter any better option, i will modify my claim, until then.......

Amazing volunteering organization to work with or overall associate with. I occasionally go here to help out for any packing/deliveries and find the people who work here incredibly friendly and helpful. Furthermore, the vibe of the warehouse can always put one in a good mood and Most produce is fresh and many items are up to date displaying the level of organization put into such a big operation. Overall, I would recommend stopping by for community service hours here if you need any for school or if you just want to be apart of the community. LBCT really feels inviting and makes you feel like you are apart of something

It is a very comfortable Food Bank and has several items that are needed plus more the only drawback is people who have home and cars going to be at the front of the line there should be a way that says homeless first
