Specialties and Services

Legal Action of Wisconsin specializes in a range of legal services, primarily centered around representing vulnerable populations. A core component of their work involves assisting individuals facing criminal charges, ensuring they receive appropriate legal defense. They also provide support to non-profit organizations, assisting them with various legal matters, including contracts, compliance, and advocacy. The organization’s attorneys handle a diverse caseload, requiring them to manage their time and resources efficiently. Given the limited resources available to a non-profit legal aid organization, it's crucial for potential clients to understand the scope of services offered and to manage expectations realistically. The attorneys involved are highly skilled and dedicated professionals, having invested significant time and effort in attaining their legal qualifications. However, their commitment to public service often means they are operating under considerable constraints.

Location and Accessibility

The Green Bay office provides a physical presence for the organization, facilitating direct interaction with clients and staff. The address, 318 S Washington St, Green Bay, WI 54301, is easily accessible and contributes to the organization’s visibility within the community. The accessibility features – a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance – underscore Legal Action of Wisconsin’s dedication to serving all members of the public equitably. It’s advisable to contact the office in advance to schedule an appointment and confirm accessibility details.

Client Reviews and Feedback

Legal Action of Wisconsin currently has 19 reviews on Google My Business, offering a valuable perspective from individuals who have utilized their services. The average opinion is 1.9/5. While the average rating reflects a need for improvement, it’s important to consider the context of the services provided. Many reviews indicate that the organization diligently strives to help those in need, operating with limited resources. Feedback suggests that clients should approach their engagement with a realistic understanding of the constraints faced by a public defender’s office and a non-profit legal aid organization. Expectations should align with the availability of resources and the focus on addressing urgent legal issues. It seems that clients sometimes express a desire for more personalized attention and a broader range of legal options, reflective of what one might expect from a private attorney.

Important Considerations for Prospective Clients

Individuals seeking legal assistance through Legal Action of Wisconsin should be aware of several key factors. Due to the organization’s limited funding, case acceptance is often prioritized based on urgency and the severity of the legal situation. Therefore, not all cases are accepted. It's recommended to contact the office early in the process to discuss your case and determine eligibility. Furthermore, the attorneys at Legal Action of Wisconsin are dedicated professionals, but they are often working under significant time constraints. This can influence the level of personal attention provided to each case. Clients should be prepared to actively participate in the legal process and to communicate clearly and promptly with their assigned attorney. While the organization strives to provide the best possible legal representation within its constraints, it’s essential to understand that it operates differently from a traditional private law firm. Hiring a private attorney may be a more suitable option for those seeking a more comprehensive and personalized legal experience.

To everyone bellyaching I'd like to point to point out this organization does their best to help people and folks need to realize they are paying NEXT TO NOTHING for legal services. Go find a private attorney if you want Cadillac treatment. These people went to law school jumped through the hoops to get and maintain a law license and they felt a calling to HELP people so don't come with unreasonable expectations. These lawyers are the best of the best but they are spread thin because they can only do so much in a day. Again HIRE A PRIVATE ATTORNEY of your choice

They know basic law
And they don't work hard for the guys, I called and left my message for using their services but my now x-wife called them After me and she ended up getting the service from them.
So women have the upper hand
As long as the opponent don't have an attorney, this group will do ok, I ended up doing OK on my own.

Such a joke. Every legally office regarding anything - in my specific case, child support- refers you to call this office. If you do call, you’re asking three questions: where do you live? Do you have children? Are your children in physical danger? If you answer no, then they refuse to even listen to your question! It’s not Legal Aid! It’s domestic abuse aid & if you don’t fit that criteria, they hang up on you. Shame on you Green Bay!

I am giving them zero stars (not one) for their refusal to assist a low income family with a meritorious negligence claim against the City. They would not assist because 'they do not take claims against the City.' What kind of public interest lawyers do not stand up to abusive behavior by a state actor? Answer: Legal Action of WI.

Scott did nothing and was rude in the process. He never looked into why there were NO notifications for repairs, or the illegal entry that would have been unnecessary had there been notices, or the evidence, patterns and history of abuse by staff.
You get what you pay for.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

They do not take civil rights cases because they're "fee generating".

If there's an area of civil litigation that the impoverished are in need of, it's civil rights lawyers. I'd give them no stars if I could.

They don't help anyone who isnt physical danger and the person on the phone sounded drunk or high. They need to hire better people or just shut this place down preferably the latter.

If I could have made this without a star I would’ve. Why call yourself legal aid when you only aid people who have violence involved when it comes to family court. What about the fathers who are getting railroaded by the legal system
