My lawyer did not give my case the attention it deserved and she admitted it herself. She apologized to me in an email for dropping the ball on my case and I still have that email. She was late to both in-person hearings at court. She showed up to my trial completely unprepared: she had none of the evidence I sent in with her, called none of the witnesses I provided, she pretty much just let it ride out. The PPO was terminated because she was completely unprepared for that hearing, too.

Now, the divorce is done and I don’t get child support payments for two months because my lawyer on my case dropped the ball AGAIN and didn’t enter the uniform support order to the court or didn’t make sure it was entered.

I spoke to Alysia on the phone and she said no one is covering Lisa Efros’s cases so I just “have to wait until she is back in the office” to have this resolved. I said that isn’t really a satisfactory answer and this entire process with Lakeshore should have and could have gone differently had my lawyer actually cared enough to put in the necessary time on my case, and Alysia incredulously asked me, “Why can’t you just wait one more week? What’s one more week?” Her tone and that question have me literally flabbergasted! How incredibly insensitive for someone who works for a LEGAL AID office to ask something like that; you have absolutely no idea what I’ve been through. My next step is the Michigan State Bar Association.

Attorney Roger West and his paralegal Aziza Sufyan were an amazing team. They helped our family navigate a very difficult situation. All calls and communication were returned in a very timely manner. Aziza was knowledgeable and compassionate and facilitated understanding with our loved ones as she is bilingual. Attorney West was professional and kind hearted and worked diligently with us, taking great care of our loved one, ensuring justice was served, despite setbacks. From the first call to Lakeshore Legal Aid and Attorney Roger West’s team, a huge burden was lifted off our shoulders and he made things right. LLA took our matter seriously and treated us with the utmost care, empathy and patience.

BEWARE. If i could give them ZERO stars i would...... DO NOT USE LAKESHORE LEGAL AID. Because of this horrible place i have to now find another Attorney quickly because i don't have alot of time. If you get Eric Decker, Kellie-Maki Foster, or Crystal McCaul RUN LIKE HELL. This includes the CEO Ashley Lowe as well. All 4 of them are HORRIBLE. Eric Decker, Kellie Maki-Foster, and Crystal McCaul all sabotaged my case. Eric thinks everything is funny including a person becoming homeless. He won't represent you in court he'll sit there and laugh instead and tell you that he thinks your situation is funny. Kellie will lie on you to the Plaintiff's Attorney and strike a deal. Crystal does nothing but LIE about who she contacted which will be no one. They don't send you documents when you request them, they barely respond to emails unless you send a million to them, they don't do anything when they tell you they are. Kellie Maki Foster and her Staff will LIE on you to the Plaintiff's Attorney and work against you instead of representing you especially if you're Black or Brown. Kellie is hiding out now and not responding to my emails since i found out she lied and told the Plaintiff's Attorney that i refused to sign a document that i never even got which is a BLATANT LIE. What these Incompetent people did to me goes against Work Ethics for any Attorney. These people don't need a License if they're going to LIE on their client, work against the client instead of for the client, and intentionally sabotage their case. DO NOT LOOK FOR LAKESHORE LEGAL AID TO ASSIST YOU OR REPRESENT YOU ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE BLACK OR BROWN. They will only destroy your Life.

I visited this office a few years ago about a matter concerning a man (an acquaintance, not a close friend) who cyberstalked me and, ultimately, cornered me and threatened violence against me in a public place (a Jewish Community Center building) My attempts to gain legal protection (a restraining order) had failed twice with the Oakland County court. I made a complaint (to the State) against this court as well, as the judge stated that she had granted me an initial interview after I had submitted the form requesting an ex parte protection order. She never did this.

My counselor at Lakeshore was very nice, but I felt she did not do enough to assist me. After explaining the circs, all I received was some-do-it-yourself sort of template as a guide. Fortunately, I was a client who was well-educated and, thus, I was up to the task of presenting the court with something decently written, an almost professional job. I feel, though, that Lakeshore should have done more for me. I was actually all alone in this; there was no assistance at all, in terms of offering (or connecting me with) legal representation. A further injustice was in store for me, as the court seemed to have a "bad attitude" about my daring to come to before them without an attorney! Ultimately, my case was dismissed.

Thus, I feel I am right in believing that Lakeshore should have done more for me, rather than just handing me a legal template to use and then wishing me good luck!

In the end, the only good thing that came from my fight was that the man did decide to leave me alone. But this was only because I had "outed" him to our mutual acquaintances, some of whom spoke and wrote to him to say how shocked they were about his wrongful actions. It seems he was ashamed that others knew, and I never saw or heard from him again.

Had a good attorney switch in the middle of my landlord tenant now I am liable for a 6,000.00 water bill he did not listen at all and spent most of the case on a door I repaired when I first moved in.
