Kisma preserve was an amazing experience. My boyfriend and I booked a VIP tour. The staff was ridiculously knowledgeable, and compassionate to their animals care. They are very diligent about safety, for people and animals alike. The proceeds go to the care of the animals. They rehab and release whatever animals they are able to - and keep them if the wild is no longer an option. The wolves are all captive bred, and each has their own personality and quirks. If you're interested in a unique experience with very experienced guides, I'd highly recommend this place. I am big on the care of animals, and it's very clear to me the staff is overly equipped for their animals. We need more places like Kisma. That said, ensure you are listening to the guides instructions. They know what they are talking about, and have their rules in place for good reasons.

Thank you, Kisma preserve, for an experience we'll never forget.

We had an incredible stay at Kisma Preserve, camping for four nights. It was in an ideal location just 25-30 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Heather and the staff were welcoming and friendly, making our stay even more enjoyable. When they say you’ll hear the wolves howling at night, they aren’t exaggerating! It was a thrill to see the wolves up close and hear their howls echo through the evening. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Reading the negative reviews- some people do not understand that this is a sight to pitch your tent… there are facilities including running water, a hot outside shower, portapotty, and firewood on sight. If you are tent camping, it’s a great spot! If you need more facilities, go to a hotel.

While visiting my parents in Maine, we decided to drive up to see Kisma Preserve and were thoroughly impressed with the knowledgable staff and their animals. You can tell the effort is put in so each animal's needs are met and it was an incredibly humbling experience to be in the presence of each animal. We will definitely be returning.

Don’t go here. The website suggests they are a sanctuary or refuge for rehabilitated wolves, and this is not the case. This is an overpriced backyard “zoo”, and honestly the 3 animals we did see looked like wolf-dog hybrids. The “wolf” brought out to us was terrified and not well socialized. Their enclosures are small and they don’t seem to have much enrichment. The staff was rude to top it off, and didn’t have much information for us and kept waiting for people to ask questions. 0/10 would not recommend. We felt bad for the animals and felt bad for putting money into this establishment.

Staff had an in-depth knowledge of the animals they care for. They were welcoming and made our experience exceptional. I enjoyed feeding the bear marshmallows. I loved having a wolf interact directly with us.

I cannot say enough good things about Kisma Preserve. One of the most unique and memorable experiences we’ve ever been lucky enough to partake in. The ladies who care for these animals and operate these tours are so dedicated, and the love they have for their animals is obvious. Kisma is a must see if you’re in the Acadia area. We will be back ASAP!! Thank you Heather and Bj! Give Oreo a snuggle for me 💓

Camping at and touring Kisma Preserve was a fantastic, intimate, and very unique experience for me and my 6 and 9-year old son's!! Host Heather was cool as a cucumber explaining facts and stories about the animals in a sincere, honest, and with a no "fluffy" no non-sense approach. We appreciated that, it made us feel safe, and note it is the demeanor one should exude around wild animals. We loved the experience with the Artic, Timber, and Siberian Wolves, catching a few great glimpses of the Siberian Lynx, the variety of birds and feeding Flipper, the ginormous Black Bear!! The animals are well cared for and again host Heather and fellow wolf trainer BJ delivered an amazing experience and we can't wait to come back!! Thank you thank you

Boy there are some really jaded people leaving reviews here. Imagine visiting a place and then deciding to review bomb them over TWENTY YEARS later. I'll admit some of the reviews almost scared me away, but I'm glad I decided to go instead.

My wife and I visited in mid-April on our anniversary and had the best animal encounter we've ever had. We walked with Fluffy, and got some incredible memories with him. Heather and BJ are so incredibly nice and friendly. I felt they really enjoyed what they did with taking care of the wolves and teaching visitors about them. The tour was leisurely and we probably stayed for over our allotted time just chatting with them.

This is a really incredible place I'd recommend to anyone. I think if you have ever had an animal encounter before and are a logical human being that understands what that means, there's no chance you'll be disappointed.
