This is a great organization serving kids' nutrition in Kent County. I recommend supporting financially or helping to make food kits for the kids.

My son and I volunteered ,some years ago, because my son would look at the homeless population, when we would drive past them, and would always become sad and say he wanted to help others. He had a friend, at school, who didn’t have much food at home, at it made him even sadder. I found kids food basket and asked him if he wanted to volunteer and he was ecstatic! Within a few minutes of us starting, we had several people asking what agency “sent” us, as if we were there involuntarily. We politely explained that we were there by choice. We got nasty looks from a few people, yet we kept working, diligently. When we were finished for the day, my son inquired about a t-shirt that was in the hall and some old karen told him, in a very nasty, condescending tone, that he had to earn the t-shirt with more volunteering time and that he couldn’t have one that day. It wasn’t her words that bothered him, but her tone. I suggest that you all understand that everyone who comes through your door isn’t there with some agency or forced to come there for community service or any other purpose than to be a helping hand to the less fortunate. Of all places, I never expected to see so much unkindness and bigotry. Never again will you get our help! My church donated huge amounts of money to various charities and organizations and kids food basket was one that they had in mind. I’m glad I told them about the way we were treated. They will never donate to your cause. We have decided to allocate our funds to a more appreciative and inclusive organization.

I would recommend and urge people to go out and volunteer here. Also grab some paper bags and have fun decorating them. These bags brighten up a child's day. Our Wyoming Lions Club volunteered for two hours and had so much fun. This would be a great opportunity for families to do. Our group has colored 138 bags. We are doing another 500. Please consider spending a couple hours helping out a great cause.

This organization is amazing. What they do, and do with volunteers on a daily basis, is astounding. To be able to facilitate the sheer volume of meals they do is mind blowing. All staff is equally knowledgeable not only about what needs to get done, but why it needs to get done, whom they are serving, and the organizations history. Well worth your donation of money, but highly recommend you spend volunteer hours here as well.

My family and I participated in an educational that included topics about composting and growing your own food. We made fresh salsa and picked fresh raspberries from their farm fresh crops. We're planning on becoming volunteers!
