If you really just need a place to sleep… and I mean literally only sleep and go out and handle your business so you can get back on your feet then I would recommend coming here. But if you need more than sleep, you need a peace of mind, non-expired food, hot showers, and to be treated like an adult who’s concerns matters then wouldn’t recommend staying here. A lot of things are poorly constructed here. Sinks leaking or overflowing. Pipes leaking through the walls, air conditioning leaks. Just bad construction honestly. But they are clean for the most part. The rules are simple and easy to follow. However, the staff is not easy to communicate with or have an understanding with. It does not matter if you’re right or have concerns. Literally nothing you say or believe in or feel matters. They will treat you like children and even call you children. They will make you feel little and like you’re beneath them. And you can do nothing about being told to go to bed, go to your room or you’re on punishment and can’t come out your room that’s just how it is. You have to go to two classes a day and deal with a racist teacher that they let treat you any kind of way and she only has kindergarten class education so once again imagine being treated like a child. You’re not really learning anything but you’re required to go or you will be on punishment and can’t leave your room. There is favoritism and high school drama if you involve yourself with other youth there because most of them are under the age of 21 so stay out the way. There are promises they make and never keep. How they would pay your move-in fees when you find yourself an apartment and then change that to them “not having enough money” to do so. But you get into their little furnished studios with waived fees but it takes super long just to get into those apartments for no reason at all. Staff and case managers are bullies when you have your own voice and will say you’re being disrespectful when you get disrespected by them every day. They like to throw your struggles back in your face when you upset them and tell you if you don’t like it here you can leave, sleep in your car, sleep in the streets. They do not care about your mental health. They throw your situations in your face if you shared with them an abusive relationship , death in the family, or any traumatic experience you’ve been open about. And don’t go to a mental hospital because you will not be able to come back. It’s very depressing and negative energy all around. If you’re not built to deal with that I’d say find other options. I’ll just thank them for giving me a place to sleep… but that’s it. I didn’t benefit from anything else. Wouldn’t want anyone to be there unless they really really had no choice. They only case manager that has made me feel like respected adult was Chris. He needs more recognition. Use your time at this place wisely so you can get out before any problems arise. I feel like the more successful you start becoming the more they try and hold you back or get a bad reaction out of you.
