Hebrew Free was such an amazing help in my life. I had fallen into debt and was being charged $100's in interest each month. I could immediately tell this was an organization that treated people with pride and dignity. Within a few weeks of submitting my loan application for a debt consolidation loan, I had gone through a few easy steps of meetings and filling out forms, and I was approved for the full amount I requested. I am in the porcess of paying back an emergency loan from HFLA - San Francisco. I am very happy with the thoughtful approach and the idea of a nonprofit dedicated to interest-free loans to meet many needs. I found that the HFLA staff are willing to advocate for their applicants and that the rules are not iron-clad; they will work with those in need of funds in order to qualify. The downside is that it is difficult for those who do NOT have family or friends in the area who meet the co-signer guidelines to be financed, though these are opften the most needy possibssible recipients.
