LBCAP helped me in 2023 with a home improvement project (internal heating & cooling). They were very professional, caring, and helpful with the projects they did for our home. I was diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer in 2022, so their help was an incredible blessing to my health and the overall well being of my family. Thank you for absolutely everything! God bless you all!

The Long Beach Community Action Partnership rejected my request for assistance paying my electric bill. They stated that I did not present all necessary information needed, but I did. There are over two reasons: the first reason Is i didn't include copies of all the utility bills that are paid. Second: it says the state of California makes it mandatory that every resident show proof of income when they are applying for assistance of any type. I understand this. The utility bills, I pay the electric bill out of my pocket. I did send them a copy of it. The gas bill the owner pays it and to try to catch up with him to get a copy of it is virtually impossible. Second problem, the proof of income. I live in a roommate situation. My other two roommates make it very clear to me that it isn't any of my business to receive personal information of theirs. So I can't get a copy of their proof of income such as Social Security benefits etc. The longest Community Action Partnership fails to understand this. it's an organization that is unorganized. I'm sorry to say. Thank you.

I went into the ELEAT office on Victoria St., on January 26, 2023 and was shocked at the customer service I received. I have used their services before and had no problem, it was a easy process. Upon entering, I signed in and after signing in and waiting with no further instructions, I asked a guy named Moises what I should do next, Josie came out of a office and told him that she would handle me because he was getting ready to be off.

She didn't even greet me, didn't say hello and immediately just grabbed my paperwork. She was condescending from the very beginning, questioning me about the basis of my income, she also corrected me on the way I had assembled my application, saying, "See it goes 1-1, 2-2 !" Like I'm a child or something. My car was stolen and it took me 2 buses and a lot of walking to even get there and to get to libraries to even print and fill out the application prior so yeah, I might have had a few papers out of order. I couldn't understand her attitude so I asked Moises for his help, he told me he was leaving so when I asked to speak to someone else, the Manager Kat came out and she went into Moises office to see what was going on and I heard him say very loudly, "She's going to be denied!" He said that because Josie went into his office and said something and rolling her eyes up in her head! I mean you're here to do your job and their wasn't anyone else there but me!

Now I was leaving the office and Josie had said everything was okay that I submitted, but when Kat looked at my application, I needed more proof of income and a copy of my Cal Fresh benefits. She showed me the computer applicants use in the corner, and I was able to get the information to complete my application in 5 minutes. She apologized on their behalf of the way I was treated!

Josie and Moises had zero empathy and was willing to see me walk out of the ELEAT office knowing and saying out loud that it was going to be denied. I'm putting this review out because who knows how many applicants they KNOW wasn't going to be approved, but let them walk out anyway. They shouldn't be working in customer service if they can't provide customer service! They're either just there for the money or they could be racists because I am a Black American.

If you go to this office for their services, be sure to double check that you have everything you need or you will be denied and have to start the process all over again! If it wasn't for Kat the Manager, I would have left that day feeling very disappointed that I was treated that way and a big waste of my time. Do better Josie and Moises! What if you needed the benefits and was treated the way I was, how would you feel?
