**Haven House: A Disappointing Experience**

I was deeply disappointed with my experience at Haven House. Despite initially promising a structured plan to help secure permanent housing, the reality was far from it.

The staff, particularly Jobie, seemed more interested in imposing arbitrary rules and making insensitive remarks than actually assisting residents. Their demands often hindered our progress rather than facilitated it. For instance, insisting on public transportation for families with cars was both impractical and disrespectful.

While Tasha and Janay were exceptions, their efforts were overshadowed by the overall negative environment. It became clear that Haven House's primary focus is on maintaining funding rather than genuinely helping people in need.

I strongly advise anyone considering seeking help from Haven House to approach with caution. Unless you’re able to connect with Tasha or Janay, it's likely to be a frustrating and ultimately fruitless experience.

Haven House is biased and unprofessional. They do not work with single father family units. They make up rumors and They use defamation of character to remove you should you ask for any additional help as a man. I stayed there with my daughter for a time until and asked for advice they could offer me from a client that worked a similar 50-60 hour work week. The first thing I was told was to provide less. I had asked for a male coordinator because I felt more comfortable with a male and they accused me of saying "inappropriate language" to their female coordinators and kicked my 11 year old daughter and I out. But there was no record of what was said Verbatim. Like it was all made up.

Lies and scandals. They do not want to see men make it if they are the primary parents.

Literally been calling every day for 2-3 weeks now even called exactly at 8 like they asked and still they are saying they are full and can’t help. Very unreliable and unhelpful. Can’t even give you an answer back until late at night when you are struggling with time to find a place. When people need help all they want to do is say good luck. I mean this is 3 weeks almost a month….. and someone said really want to help people to improve and get them off the streets. Well we really want to improve and trying everyday to get a job. And they are still not willing to house us.

Haven house is a homeless shelter for 1 and 2 parent families with children. There is no separation of females and males and families are encouraged to work towards rapid re-housing. The staff here is very encouraging and helpful. My disabled son and I had to stay here a few years back while we looked for affordable housing.

This place does NOT keep families together. Because my LEGAL husband and I had not stayed together more than 1 year, they refused to let him stay with my daughter and I. He slept in the car. The stress was terrible. They called landlords for the many families there except for me, never helped me know what to do in this situation, never guided me. They are more serious about the chores than helping us at all.

They are VERY DISHONEST PEOPLE that discriminate, lie and you cant count on them for any true help.
Do not waste your time with them.
My family member and their children were placed on the top floor in a room that had a double window across the room and the 5 year old opened it and nearly fell out and they NEVER FIXED IT.
They say they provide meals but the NEVER make meals they warm frozen snacks.
It's disgustingly filthy and there is NO structure PERIOD
It's a joke and they take the funding but DO NOT use it on the people they bring in

I felt a lot of condescending attitude from a lot of the staff. Only one person knew my name. Everyone else called me Michelle or Shelley. A staff sprayed air freshener in my 9 month olds face cuz my 3 year old pooped in his pants in the office. Only polite helpful staff was Caroline. We will miss her!
